The HiPAR Spectro LED 240W build quality and finish is excellent. It is very robust with acrylic covers over the LEDs and an IP54 rating for wet areas.
There are 6 light modules which can be changed to vary the spectrum output and the light can be controlled using a controller.
The Light consumes 260W in our test on a 240V supply (the light operates on 220 to 240V only). The Spectro LED delivers an average PAR of 743 µmols/m²/sec for a system efficiency of 2.07 µmols/watt (usable PPF/watt) at44cm or 18" hanging height in a 4ft x 2ft or 120cm x 60cm space.

There an Australian company and I honestly think there gonna make it big real soon...they use the best diodes in world...I have one of there lights and let's just say there up there with the best...they are a fantastic led light and I'm sure they would love you to test it for them.. Hi Shane, I just bought one and couldn't find a PAR chart anywhere until I saw your review so thank-you. Mine is in my 4x4 tent. Im very new to this and was wondering, if I hang the light at your test level of 44cm above just sprouted seeds and reduce the setting to 25% , will that mean Im giving (approx) 250 PAR, which I believe is the appropriate amount of PAR for plants that young? Thanks again for the chart, I hope Ive understood it correctly and my maths makes sense. Cheers from Australia mate.

Neat little light but not enough were it counts. I've been in debate over the whole seed to harvest claims lately. I personally want and need the white diodes but also blue 450s or 460s strong on the come on then a fairly strong 500nm greens to penetrate thru and 600s for them fall and bloom expression.

Looks the same as the Shuttle6 240W from Prima Klima. In Holland you can find them in most shops and in the cabinets from G-tools. How can you that you haven’t seen many designs like that? It would be nice to know the prices.

I would definitely take the covers off specially if it was the only light I had only thang I see might be water but I would fix it so all I had to do was get a peace of cardboard hold it up over the light as I spray. That's the only way I would take the covers off only if I just had one light.

I would love to see a review some Alibaba leds as they look the part and they claim very similar specs to the so called high end models that cost an arm and a leg. I’m sure we are all wondering are these grow light companies trying to charge max because the tec is still pretty new or is it actually justified. If anyone in the comments can point me in the direction of a really good value 1000w equivalent I’ll love you for life 😝

I recently grabbed a couple quantum boards of alibaba with Samsung lm301h diodes meanwell drivers potenieameters and 15 mm heatsinks on back of the 240 watt units. Well to make a long story short they get hot as hell. I have another quantum board from north America and only has 10mm heatsink on back of the boards and it only gets warm, the alibaba units i cant turn on blast with out a fan blowing on them because im afarid of fire or frying the boards. Im not sure if they used a really crappy aluminum or if its even aluminum at all and not something similar. Im thinking its lower grade aluminum that does not cool as well. I know there are different grades of aluminum some cool better than others, the alibaba units definitely must of cheaped on the heatsinks. I was very disappointed and would not buy again. The units look great but who knows the drivers also get very hot to touch side by side to other north American sourced meanwell drivers i have they look legit but im thinking they are meanwell knockoffs. Becareful with Alibaba so much knockoff stuff that looks legit but is fake.

Is a 50W light undimmed better than a 100W light dimmed to 50%

I think they're light output would be the same, but the 100W dimmed to 50% would probably run cooler, and the diodes wouldn't get as hot, thus the diodes and fixture would last longer. Many newer fixtures use many more diodes at the same wattage as before, and get better efficiency. Shane's much more eloquent explaining this!!!👍

The light output with a 100W dimmed to 50W will be higher than the 50W if the initial efficacy is the same; when you dim down the fixture, you lowered the current of LEDs, so it gets higher efficacy! And Tim was right that it will run cooler as the driver and LEDs both emit much less heat. The only issue is the cost!! Or size differences.
