There's only one channel that ever makes me stop everything and immediately load the video when I get the notification. Not the ones with fancy graphics, narration and hours-long stories. Just this one, where the main character has never said a word or even stood up. Just a master technician and her instrument continuously blowing my mind. If you ever come to the US I will seriously drop every obligation to see you play live. If I'm teaching class that day, my students will learn about bass instead of accounting.

Whenever I watch a new video from Julia, some of the same thoughts cross my mind: 1. She is really good! And her technique has evolved dramatically over the years I’ve followed her stuff. 2. Her channel is so pure! Just 1 camera angle, the same room, no chitchat, no cheesy jokes, no begging for subs or likes. Just groovy and honest bass lines, played with skill, expression and attitude. 3. In a way, and this might be too philosophical and nerdy but, I think it’s the “directness” and “simplicity” that gets me every time: It really is all about that bass, with her. I can hear the hours spent practising in her music. Idk, maybe it’s because I’m an old music teacher my mind wanders down these thoughts. 😅 apologies! Don’t mean to be all weird and stuff. Just.. thank you for sharing your talent with us. God bless!
@craigsisler3 жыл бұрын
So true. The directness, simplicity and the honesty. It's so incredibly rare to find these qualities all in one place that she stops you in your tracks and makes you want to listen.

Okay, I've been watching this lady play bass for a while now. How is it she's not on tour with some ridiculous band or buried in a studio at Sony's request? Don't get me wrong, I prefer seeing her on KZbin but one day money's gonna come callin'.

You always play music that I'm completely unfamiliar with. I'm 65 and most of my musician friends still listen almost exclusively to music from when they were young. I love to discover new music.And you are an amazing and inspiring bass player. I'd love to see a clip with you in a band setting.

Incredible! Such a high level of difficulty on this song - any other bass players here care to try counting out this one? - and yet Julia not only makes it sound effortless, but as always she builds on the original and takes it to a whole other level. Brilliant work my friend, if there’s any justice in the world you will be one of the most sought-after session players in years to come.

I have been watching your KZbin videos for a couple years and this is my favorite so far. Amazing song by Haitus Kaiyote that I had already been listening to on repeat when it came out last week and prompted me to watch videos of how leopard slugs mate and how female seahorses transfer eggs to the male to birth etc. And then I was really excited when I saw your cover of it, and it made me realize how complex and difficult the bass is in this song. I don’t know how the KZbin algorithms work (I don’t see ads interrupting your videos midway through) but I hope you are somehow making good money from sharing these videos and your extraordinary talent.
