Nai's voice feels like It's almost like a different timbre. This is both octave-shifted and slowed. This gives not just a different dimension to the track, but shows more about what Nai's voice actually contains - and just EXACTLY WHY genius African American musical artists are so drawn to her! She sounds African American, not just in timbre but in application. Though she lost to Lalah Hathaway for the Grammy, she was DEFINITELY supposed to be there that night! This track mod shows her work well! Prince, Questlove, Erykah, and many more caught on right away. Her backing vox, oh wow!

Subjective perspective buddy! Different strokes for different folks. I like to do my slowed music this way. Just out of curiosity, could you send me a link to what you are talking about?

@@bobbythespaceghost9934 its not my opinion it's just how you do chopped And screwed / slowed down genre usually. Otherwise it sounds like you just slowed down a record player. But it's not bad it just doesn't sound like the rest of this genre of remix. It's called frequency shifter i dont have links ready and don't feel like researching for you but it's just a quick search away. Frequency shift makes things sounds like deep slow or high fast without changing the pitch. Worth learning about even if you don't use it for this.

just for future reference, in fact 'shifting the frequency down' isnt really accurate to describe this in terms of sound design, because changing the frequency implies a change in pitch by default.. this is exactly what was done in the video, speed was reduced, and pitch went down accordingly. if you want to slow something down without changing pitch then you need an actual algorithm to do that (one of which may of course be whats behind that 'frequency shifter' functionality in some software as you mentioned)
