Thank you for the guide. This really sealed the deal for this grill. I bought it right after I watched this.

Excellent looking food. I currently have a pellet grill and have been a bit frustrated with some issues with pellets burning back into the hopper. I'm quite interested in this grill, but I'm a bit concerned about the long-term with corrosion and such. I'd love to hear in the future how it's holding up.

That looks like a fun smoker/griddle combination. I was looking at the 800 at Walmart the other day. The size is perfect for really just about anything. Nice job. I'll be that was a great meal.

Thank you for posting this video. It's one of the very few, 'starring' the Griddle of the MB GS800.

I was wondering about the difference of using the 800 vs just throwing a griddle top over the grates on 560. It looks like you're saying the gridle won't stay as hot if you just have a piece on top of the grates.
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
I don't feel it would unless you crank the 560 up to 600 or higher, and than when the lid is open the fan will shut off because the lid kills it past 500 degrees, where the griddle on the 800 won't have the hot airflow getting past it so it will continue to heat because the chamber thermometer is above it

nice video! can you put grill grate on top of the open manifold to do direct grilling? any downside to that? thanks
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
People usually put the grill grates on top of the factory grates, but the main chamber on the 800 is 16.75 x 24 so if you can get them to fit that yes you'd be fine

Not sure if I should buy this or a blackstone griddle. I already have a big green egg but I would like to set it and forget it
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
Tough call, the big green egg is a great cooker as well, I like the ability to set it and walk away, it makes short cooks that much easier, I will say be prepared to go through some charcoal though these masterbuilts crush through charcoal like nobodies business

Hello does the fan continue to run while lid is open? normally it stops on the other units.
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
On all MB units the fan runs up to 500 degrees if the main lid is open, if the hopper lid or ashbin lid is open it shuts off completely
@bigmoney8819able3 жыл бұрын
@@bullybbqpit1677 Ok all this time i thought it was the lid as well! lol Thanks it does look much bigger than the 560 your thoughts?
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
The main grates are bigger than the 560, I also had the 560 before this. The 560 with all the racks has quite a bit of surface area, the 800 could stand to use a deeper middle shelf, but I feel confident in saying this a do all cooker that anyone could run.

I wonder, I have a blackstone off of propane. Is this cheaper for a griddle than propane? Maybe just a real awesome feature I can sell my wife into agreeing to buy this. Lol. Must need. Great commentary and explaining of your experience. Bummer it doesn't take on smoke flavor
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
Hard to say apples to oranges on what's cheaper to run. Yeah I mean the amount of time you would need to get smoke penetration, you'll have burned w.e you have on the griddle. If you put it up on a rack and run more wood you will get smoke and smoke flavor, but you won't when cooking on griddle.
@andykappa58343 жыл бұрын
Okay, I just got one and was wondering that. So far I've only smoked things on the first rack (so I can put a drip try under for collection and keeping the grill clean), so I'm thinking about keeping the griddle installed for all of my smoking for when I need to sear things. Do you think this is a bad idea, would I lose a lot of smoke flavor?
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
@@andykappa5834 with the manifold bring different, I would think heat circulation would be the hardest thing to control. If I put it at 225 and put a drip tray under the meat, and than out an external ambient probe next to the meat, the probe is going to read around 165-195, vs I'd I didn't have the drip tray, it's going to read 225. So I imagine you'd struggle with heat management having a big plate between the heat source and meat. BUT eventually it would probably level out. I wouldn't recommend overall.

@@andykappa5834 I bought it. And bought mods to do the same LLS mods for it. Waiting for it to all arrive. My wife likes the idea of all in one. I love charcoal, so will see. I have an offset smoker, and I can't wait to perfect my skills on this!

Why did you put the tin foil in the chimney stack
@bullybbqpit16773 жыл бұрын
It's not necessary, it just helps clean up, the creosote buildup in the chimney can make gunk between the gasket and top of the hopper so the next time you use it you might have a little air leak if that happens, totally not necessary just a little extra step that may be helpful to some

The Gravity series is total garbage. I've had my grill for 6 months and so far have had to dismantle and clean it, replace 2 switches & a cord and the computer will not update or connect to my phone. The fan will randomly quit working. I've had emails to and from the company and demanded phone calls. I've gotten exactly 3 cooks out of it and have been embarrassed with guests waiting on food. IT IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! Don't buy it.
