Hibiki 17 was discontinued and the Mr. Taketsuru 17 is unobtanium now.... But great side by side comparison!!

In Japan, the Nikka 17 is usually referred to as the Taketsuru 17, this matters when doing online searches (Whiskybase, Rakuten etc.)

Great review guys. Probably unattainable bottles for most of us but good to know :D . Having said that, here's a great idea for a blind taste. Since there are a lot of "faux Japanese whiskies" in the market, or even blended Japanese whiskies that's blended with some Japanese whisky mixed with Scotch or Canadian whisky bottled in Japan and labeled with some kanji lettering. Blind taste with real entry level and some what easily accessible Japanese whisky (Hibiki Harmony, Nikka Yoichi, Haku/Yama 12 etc vs Shubui. Matsui, Kariyoshi , Togouchi etc), Outcomes : A. Can you guys pick the real vs fake? B. Are the real Japanese whisky far better than the blended/fakes? and anything else that might be interesting. Great work guys keep it coming.

yeah - we put a disclaimer up at 0:38 - someone forgot to hit "record" on our audio recorder, so we had to clean up the camera audio as best we could!

Exactly why I do not follow them anymore....I come here occasionally just to see what they are up yo but when they said $300 Kentucky owl batch 9 has worse value than $1000 GTS they lost me

@@royn8032 Glad you found something you like, but man, you can do way better than Kentucky Owl. Dixon was pretty defensive about the pricing saying that he had nothing to do with it. He knows it's not worth that much for non age stated predominantly 6 to 7 year liquor. Community also has pretty much spoken. That thing doesn't sell. It sits on the shelf for months. Most bevmos still have it in stock, which I guess it's a good thing if you like it.

@@rangeradams I love it especially batch 9...I just got batch 10....And yes I compared it to GTS 2019 and liked KO better...I cannot find GTS for less than 800-1000
