Yes it can! It's made from azuki red beans, which is a variety of beans that are pretty naturally sweet. If you search for "anko recipe" you will find a bunch of how-to videos ! It's not too hard to make but can take a long time, so be prepared for that if you try it. It's really good on a bunch of foods, like pancakes or waffles, you can also use it to make many japanese deserts!
