So charming!! Camden-Passage way is like stepping back in time. A time of grace, manners, and beautiful dress codes. Not that it does not exist today. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon tea and stroll. The street lamps are beautiful. I love the black fence railing with brick bolsters! It is like English countryside. Exmouth Market is also so charming. I love the boutique shops and beautiful passage way. Wonderful that it transformed from a less desirable area to what it is today. Awesome!! Enjoyed this.

Why do I associate *Camden-anything with Dickens, particularly "Bob Cratchett" (sp?). Didn't the Cratchett family live on or in Camden-something? Interesting association with *Islington, Steve. When I lived in London in the late '80's , I took in a more "avant-garde" performance in one of the independent theatres in Islington. ( -Found the performance awful, P.S. ). Also had an unsuccessful "interview" in Islington - prestigious theatre design people. -Went up to their loft/workshop/office. .Brought my art portfolio. I was completely dismissed, so not exactly a validating experience. Independent of that lousy exchange, and the soulless theatre experience, I found Islington "harsh." I believe in the late '80's it was kind of being re-discovered by the bohemian community, and at that time was pretty hip, cutting edge territory for artists and independents. It had/has an "edge," grunge-chic, tuff, more cerebral, etc. From the looks/vibes in this video, it seems to still carry that tenor, although more settled, established now. It was always "tuffer bohemia" in *combination with older, working class establishments/subculture - i.e. the "fishmonger" you reference, etc.

Today, Camden is one of our hippest quarters, but when 'A Christmas Carol' first hit the scene in 1842 the area was blighted by extreme poverty! Spot on Karen yes Bob Cratchett heads home to Camden at the start of it! Your association with Islington is interesting, although not being validated at the interview and taking part in the theatre production certainly gave you some memories - thanks so much for sharing and it is amazing that places can evoke so many different thoughts for so many people! Thanks as always Karen :)
