Glad you escaped unscathed from that log collision. I've had numerous close calls with logs, and a few hits off the bow, but never got one stuck like that. That must have been scary! Its crazy that the logging industry gets away with continuing to transport logs in booms given how much cargo they loose. Could you imagine if the trucking industry was allowed to continually loose huge chunks of cargo on highways without being forced to make changes?! I hope the day comes when barges are used instead of booms so the brutal hazard of logging industry logs are removed from our seas. Not to mention the awful impact log booms have on the many river estuaries that are used for boom storage. I found a great article in Hakai Magazine titled "The Trees That Sail to Sea" that you might find interesting.

Will check out the article. Yes agreed on the logging industry! Kind of a freak occurrence how the log ended up under the boat. We felt lucky not to have any serious damage.

Thanks! Yes we were pretty nervous about it when we first hit the log. Actually took quite a while to figure out how to change course as it had the rudder so jammed.
