If I recall correctly, there was also a very deep toilet at Talbot Road Bus Station, on top of the ones at Central Drive and Talbot Square. Separate Ladies and Gents entrances and the gents was very deep - at least two stories down. They shut shortly before the bus station closed. Don’t know if they’re still there given the building was redeveloped.

Yes. I think they are still there bar Talbot Square. Good point 👍

So where did the turds from the underground toilets end up? I am guessing straight into the sea followed by the beach where holidaymakers came face to face with Bobby Brown.

There are no secret tunnels. Sorry. Drains, pipelines, a few underground car parks... but no secret tunnels. :) Cool stories though.

Loved that one mate. I remember those toilets years ago, I remember going down there as a nipper and being terrified. The tunnels under Winter Gardens also featured in the Most Haunted Live episode, they went wandering through them. There are also underground toilets and a tunnel system under the Pleasure Beach, they used it for their Halloween event in 2019. Darren

Excellent video. I remember using these toilets back in the early 70's on a weekend visit to Blackpool, never knew they were part of a tunnel network. Most towns had subsurface toilets years ago, you have to remember pubs closed from 15.00 until 18.00 and 14.00 until 19.00 on Sundays so more toilets were needed in those days to relieve yourself after a skinfull in the pub.

I live in Bridlington and the same mystery goes on here about various tunnels, one alleged to run from the harbour to the Priory Church at the other end of town. A few arched cellars been unearthed in recent developments but nothing really exciting.

I can't remember if it was a recent YT vid or a TV programme, but British Leyland had underground tunnels during the war, they were wide enough to have machines (lathes etc) along one side to make parts for the war effort. I can't find that vid unfortunately.
@IM-yv1er2 жыл бұрын
Firstly British Leyland did not exist until the 1970s If you go back to the Companies that formed British Leyland you can find information about underground works at Austin in Longbridge. Rover also had a factory in tunnels in South Staffordshie near Kinver. Those tunnels were re purposed as a Contol Centre during the Cold War

It reminds me of a subway tunnel close to where I live in Brereton, Rugeley near St. Michaels Church and the old Brereton Library, ended up being closed off and sealed in, remember going under it when I was younger but what I didn't knew till last year when doing some research for the Brereton Colliery line that it was also a old tramway tunnel! and after I found that out, I was just face palming lol! I never knew the subway / toilets existed until recently, they must’ve been abandoned for a long time. I wonder how they were accessed by the local vandals.
@stewriley11833 жыл бұрын
The local vandals would have accessed them through the roller door below the old lifeboat house before the prom was widened in 2010-ish. It was a massive complex and a shame to see it filled in, but that’s progress I guess.

Large underground car park also used by the Yacht Club in later years now closed off and possibly filled with concrete. Sea water also flows as far in land Talbot Rd and the old Bank Building has sump pumps to remove flood water from the Vault area. Not sure if the Shadow Factory exists for Vickers anymore and Think the ROC bunkers have also gone.

Is that the car park at anchorsholme? It has been removed within the last 5 years or so to facilitate the new sea defences

Hi Gordon. Fabulous vlog as always. I remember the stairs taking you down to some toilets near north pier they were a bit scary back in the day. Also the ones in your vlog near the wax works. I think there use to be a bridge/walkway that was near central that you used to go over the road, instead of crossing.

Sadly councils like Blackpool expect visitors to cross their legs until they get home. People cannot hold on forever so shop doorways, alleys and even the beach are used [in desperation] by children AND adults alike. Blackpool, convert some of the "catch penny" amusement arcades into toilets then you might get a lot more visitors.
@mickd69423 жыл бұрын
The beaches at Blackpool had a brown flag from the EEC and the Irish Sea was one of the most radioactive in the world so if you swam in it check to see if you glow in the dark , still go there on holiday every year and will do this year if the plandemics over.

I've worked in both the Winter Gardens and the Tower, never seen the tunnel but I've been told multiple times that it exists and most recently (about 2019) that it was blocked due to debris. Not convinced about the airport one, I've been around there and flown out of there too often to have not heard about it by now. Always wondered why that area around Central Pier was tarmac, the subsurface works would explain that a little I think.

the tunnel from the tower to the winter gardens was real, however, it wasnt direct. there was a tunnel from the tower to the "tower street buildings" and then a linking service tunnel from there to the winter gardens, as i believe at one time they were both owned by the same family.

A recent video by Darren from the AdventureMe channel on KZbin investigates the myth of the tunnel from the Tower to the Winter Gardens and does go some way to backing up your thoughts. The two companies however were sworn enemies and so it probably wouldn't have been connected until the Tower bought the WG out in the late 1920's. Why would you want to connect with your enemy?

Excellent video Nodrogs, but couple of points. Firstly you may be confusing the Tower to Winter Gardens tunnel you mention regarding getting artistes to their respective theatres with the definite one that ran from the Tower, to just next door when the Palace Theatre was to the left of the Tower. Later Lewis's and more recently Poundland. Even though it was only yards between them any stars before they built it, were mobbed on the prom and then could miss their time to be on stage, hence a tunnel from one entertainment venue to the next door one being built. And secondly, since your excellent production, Darren from AdventureMe on here has done an in-depth analysis of the tunnel myth and whilst not absolutely stating it definitely existed, what he does find is... interesting. Worth a look if you haven't seen it already. Cheers.
