I've only seen this movie a couple of times, and not for several years, so I couldn't remember the gimmick William Castle used. Interesting that this film was favorably compared to Psycho. Supposedly Hitchcock was so impressed by the Castle low budget horror flicks that he tried to bring some of their traits to Psycho. I was lucky enough to see Castle's House On Haunted Hill and The Tingler when they first played in theaters. Great experiences, but no flying plastic skeletons or seats wired with electricity! Very good review here and good use of the film clips. Now I want to watch Homicidal again.

Yeah I believe I read somewhere that Castle was the inspiration behind Psycho as Hitchcock wanted to show he could make an "A" picture on a "B" budget. And that sounds like an enjoyable time seeing those in the theatre even if the gimmicks weren't included.

I agree, spoilers must be avoided to truly enjoy the film, though the twists are suoer predictable. Only because we have seen it all before, but this film is amazing and, although inspired by Psycho, the other works of this man (Castle) inspired Psycho! Weird cycle
