Hidden gems near Waterfowl Lakes | Chephren & Cirque Lakes - Banff National Park

During this quick stop over alongside Highway 93 during my Banff National Park travels, I decided to stop and check out Waterfowl Lakes campground. This led me down the road to hike into the mountains exploring the Mistaya River, the Waterfowl Lakes, Chephren Lake & Cirque Lake. Very interesting trail with unique challenges but almost unique hidden beauties that may not get the popularity they deserve.
Mount Chephren is a mountain located in the Mistaya River Valley of Banff National Park, Canada. Mount Chephren was named after Chephren, the 4th Dynasty Egyptian pharaoh. The mountain was originally named Pyramid Mountain in 1897 by J. Norman Collie, but it conflicted with an identically named peak in Jasper National Park, so it was renamed in 1924 to its present name.

I've been to both of them in 1967. Same day. Beautiful. There's so much to see in Banff we never made it back.

It was a fantastic surprise for me as well, fairly easy hike minus the roots on the trail.

@@EricTremblayAdventures tree roots on trail are still manageable , we tried hector lake trail this summer but was so muddy that we turned back. Have u done hector lake trail?

@@sonal1909 not yet. I would rather mud, with gaiters I’m good with 12 inches of mud! The problem with the roots is that you have to step on them & over several KM, you get massive feet pain.

The bears are kind of like waterfalls, they dangerous is you fall down one but that doesn’t seem to happen very often! I’m more afraid of ticks, you will most definitely find them in the mountains and they have a good chance of carrying disease. Sometimes the smallest creatures are the ones to actively avoid! 😂✌️

@@EricTremblayAdventures exactly! I did chephren lake and Cirque lake yesterday, it was beautiful. Anyway, Ticks are dangerous! I got more than 50 in one day when I hiked Mount Galway in Waterton
