The bears I can definitely attest to. I was across the street from like 2 of them once during a walk towards Lakewood. Luckily I did not have their attention and they were in this hill right next to the reservoir when I saw them.

I see that cross every time I look out the window of the train as it’s making its last stop, and sometimes see it as I’m walking. If not for the locked gates and stuff, I could walk there from where I live if I really wanted to. It’s beautiful to look at in the nighttime, but definitely not in a good neighborhood by any stretch of the means.

@@Jayrbx78 You sure about that? According to the statistics, it’s only safer than 16% of US cities. The Violent Crime rate is almost twice the state average, and then from a per capita standpoint, it’s equal to or higher than national average in every category except for Assault. We’re above national average again in Property Crimes, Theft, and the amount of crimes committed per square mile. The only remotely “safe” part of Waterbury is on the west side towards the Middlebury and Watertown town lines. Furthermore, we still have a big gang problem here as well as a growing drug problem, and while this next part happened in Naugatuck, someone who killed an 11-month old last month was recently arrested in Waterbury.

I hope its rebuilt in that great cheesy mid-century bible vibe it had when new, that's what will get people there even if they're not religious. I'm very much not religious (unless you count whatever is going on in the movie All Dogs Go To Heaven), but you better believe i'm gonna check it out if it can recapture that kind of scenic magic. I even still walk around the big church yard Fatima Shrine in MA, they've got one of the nicest holiday lights displays. This place location is only about 2 1/2 hours from my home and i'm in CT all the time.
