Thank you for sharing this video! Although I am happy to work with the ACR HDR feature and follow all your recommendations, I cannot convert the file from 32 to 16/8 bit without losing all the jobs I made. I mean it works until the preview during the conversion. When I click OK, the result is a disaster. Could you help?

@@photoshopcafe Hi Colin. Is that 'HDR Output' Tech Preview option only in the latest update to Ps? I don't see it listed in my rel. of Tech Previews. I didn't update to the latest vers. of Ps b/c after just intro'ing it, Adobe didn't include the new 'Del. & Fill' (I think that's the name) feature. So I didn't plan to update until they re-included it... Is it back again (rel. # ?)? Thx

@@MisterDavidH Since the latest PS update there is no more setting for HDR in the Tech Preview. You could only enable HDR in the Camera Raw 15.1.1 (latest) Tech Preview menu. BTW, HDR is visible only in the Camera Raw window, not in the PS in case of the 2-monitor setup (one SDR capable and another HDR capable). This is on Windows 11.

Great video! Im just starting to learn the PS tools for HDR. If im editing fairly standard single exposure images, should I be saving all my final edits as JPGXL to future proof? Or would a single exposure fit nicely in the 8bit SDR range? Is it worth the hassle?

3:54 I had HDR on, but image looked different than in Lightroom, I enabled SDR but it seemed to make it look right. I clicked ok. But nothing happens. Also Camera raw did not read the settings, so I had to match them to Lightroom. Saving it doesn't work, Sky is still blown out. Seems like there might be a bug in the latest version of Photoshop. But a workaround is to open the folder and open the JPG in Photoshop instead.

Can’t complete the final render to say, a jpeg. The adjustments are visible in RAW but disappear once I open in PS. Normally, once you make changes to an image in RAW, then you click Done or Open, those changes will be seen in PS - then you save or save a copy or export to whatever final file type you want - tiff or png or jpeg or whatever. I’ll have to make a clip to better illustrate the issue.

@photoshopcafe2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can
@teetimeaz2 жыл бұрын
I can convert any picture in LR to HDR easily using one picture. I first assume your original picture is not too under/over exposed. Make multiple copies and modify the exposure so the worse under and over and under exposed areas look nice. Select all those photos and then make HDR.
@photoshopcafe2 жыл бұрын
Technically, you can do that, but If you want true HDR you need to shoot bracketed photos to capture an extended dynamic range
@teetimeaz2 жыл бұрын
@@photoshopcafe Maybe it is not “true HDR” but it creates a beautiful picture. Try it. Take a picture inside a reduced light room with a window where the outside is well lite. I have shown this in my camera club and mentioned it on several KZbin responses and this is the first negative comment I have received. So far everyone else appears to like it. If you have a high contrast picture this can really improve the picture easily.
@teetimeaz2 жыл бұрын
HDR is AI based. No magic. 3,5 or more pictures with similar bracketing can be made into a “HDR” photo. AI will attempt to take the best of each photo and combine with the others (very simply explained). Our cameras will take multiple picts. Beside exposure, ISO and other settings may differ.
@photoshopcafe2 жыл бұрын
@@teetimeaz Not negative. What you describe is photo fusion, I've done it for years. My tutorial here is about outputting actual high dynamic range images that take advantage of HDR and XDR displays, different topic.
@shayrealestatephotography2 жыл бұрын
I sorta got lost in this one. Seems like it is only for people using Bridge/ACR and also have an HDR capable monitor? That's like .01% of the people I know. Let's move forward and use LR Classic like adults.
@photoshopcafe2 жыл бұрын
Current iPhones, Pixels, iPads and Macbook pros are capable of XDR and HDR already and it's coming to Lightroom. That .01% will be 99% in a few short years.
