I honestly really liked all the attention to detail in this animation, and I especially loved how well the bond between Sonic and Tails is shown here. Not once do they show any animosity or have Sonic leaving Tails in the dust. Instead, he waits for the little dude to catch up and even praises him for tackling little feats like bypassing the earlier spikeball trap. Those two even cooperated AMAZINGLY in the Special Stage, not to mention Sonic feeling sorry that Tails wasn't granted a Bubble Shield like he was. I liked how the ending was shown before Sonic and Tails escaped the crumbling caves, revealing to Sonic all about the power he's yet to tap into, alongside the now-known presence of a *seventh* Chaos Emerald.

Fun fact: hidden palace was scrapped for the first release of sonic the hedgehog 2 but now it’s used as a secret zone in mystic cave act 2 but a cutscene where sonic becomes super sonic

Okay, this version of Hidden Palace Zone is pretty clever. The big emerald being used a pseudo-Master Emerald to tell Sonic to collect all 7 is nothing short of creative. Cause I’ve been wondering if this Hidden Palace Zone is the same one in Angel Island and if a certain echidna was patrolling.

I'd like to see something like this but with how it was originally supposed to play out back in 1992. Originally you were supposed to be automatically transported to the Hidden Palace right after getting the last Chaos Emerald, you would play through it and I'm willing to bet that the end, Sonic uses the Emeralds to transform into Super Sonic for the very first time

You know, maybe when you collected 6 emeralds and got to the next checkpoint, the player could be sent to the hidden palace zone, there you had to find a master emerald and from it the 7th was given, and the one going to was skipped, at the beginning of the next ones they gave 10 rings, but every second checkpoint was broken
