Ukrainian film director Sergey Bukovsky takes the viewer on a poignant journey of discovery as he and several Ukrainian students absorb the testimony of local people who escaped brutal execution and those who rescued friends and neighbours during the Holocaust. A collection of men and women share the details of their experiences, and we are afforded a glimpse of modern day Ukraine: the ethnic stereotypes that continue to exist and the manner in which Post-Soviet society is dealing with the question of how to memorialise the sites where tens of thousands of Jewish families and others were executed and thrown into mass graves.

I’ve seen many documentaries on the holocaust and for the life of me there are people out there who truly believe it never happened. To me, that’s a double hurt for those who went through it. My heart breaks for every single human being who went through it or lost their lives because of it. We must never forget them 🙏♥️😢.

Have you watched any on holodomore in ukraine? 1932 when Joey Stalin and the Soviets starved 7million ukrainians to death with grain requisitions. Unfortunately , this instance of genocide is being scrubbed from history and most people don't even know about it. All schools teach about holocaust , but never teach about the atrocities of communism. Sad.

Talk about pure ignorance. Learn about the Jewish led government of Soviet Union and the Holodomor, the genocide of Ukrainians with the Soviet union’s deliberate creation of famine to kill 10 million Ukrainians, millions of them children. Holocaust is nothing but a major coverup of the mass killings committed under the Soviet Union and by the Allies themselves.

Js of today are the same Js that were chosen to receive the anointed messiah for they were straying from God but rejected him, forsaken him, blasphemed him, and sought to kill him. There are very few that can trace their lineage back to Abraham, majority of Js today are: Pharisees and Khazars. If there’s one positive thing about them: they are United and willing to push lie after lie for the agenda they have in store for the whole world. Jesus denounced and spoke harshly of the Pharisees for a reason. Millions have been spent by worldwide J**y to push their Jish myth: Holocaust. Just like they have spent millions to start both World Wars, for their own interests.

It's amazing that the pain that was endured by these people does nothing to so many commenters. It just baffles me how you can look at a crying elderly woman, yet feel absolutely no empathy. People are scary. But luckily not all. Also, the lady at 18:10 proves the importance of good parenting. There is so much hate that surrounds children, so if as a parent you do not make it very clear from the start that hating others for being different is not allowed, many people grow up to be like the ignorant folks in the comment section who just spread filth all day.

I pray for the ignorant so that the Lord may take them from their own misery and not inflict it on others again. I pray also that in the next life they are brought into this world as a financially struggling Jewish person of color who is also a member of the LBGTQ community so that their soul can heal properly.

one of the absolute best documentaries on any subject. this movie shows how to properly use music, dramatic effects, editing in a documentary to convey the story without the hint of being pretentious the entire time. I get so sick of every damn documentary with its loud cello and violins blasting with terrible direction and editing. this is how you do it perfectly.

Just as bad & evil are those who say the Jewish people are committing the same holocaust to the so called "Palestinians" which is a huge lie pushed by Hamas and those who are Antisemitic towards the Jewish community. They try to hid it by saying Zionism is the problem not the Jewish people. Its so simple to see that by being anti Zionist is Antisemitism. Plain and simple. Hamas says the "Jewish people in Israel have committed 80 holocaust" which is a flat out lie.

I don't know why, but; this documentary about the Ukrainian part of the Holocaust touches me. I mean... REALLY AND TRULY IN MY GUT... I hear, understand and feel thier survival stories. The woman at the end should be human ambassador for the whole race. Her understanding of life is dead on. WHY????!! Because, in truth; it is us humans that complicate our existence. Which is SOOOOOOOO easy without our " distractions. "

The horror is evident, and unimaginable at the same time. But it seems like there is an underlying agenda here. I am a Jew, of Ukrainian descent, all of the testimonies brought up in this video thus far, up to 54:58, forced me to think that the makers of the film either ask, or implied that unless the interviewed had no command of RUSSIAN AT ALL, had to communicate in Russian. I feel being manipulated here. Why is it that, a testimony has to be conducted in a foreign language? All the survivors, interviewed up to this point, have Yiddish, or Ukrainian, possibly Polish languages as their mother tongue. This aspect of the film makes me distrustful of the result, or it's intended consequences. Thank you.

@@adielstephenson2929 It saddens me deeply that the film makers were more concerned about glorifying the Red army and the USSR (who started the 2nd world war in the first place), then about the realities of the time. A Soviet "soldier" was welcomed as "nash"? Really? Does anyone with a little bit of knowledge of any Eastern European language could find this film compelling?

The Einsatzgrupen employed people in every single country they invaded, there will always be people willing to kill regardless of their nationality, this isn't something exclusive to the Ukraine. Had you actually paid attention during this film you would have realized that your statement is false, you make it sound as if all Ukrainians were involved with the genocide, in fact the only Ukrainians that were mentioned in this film were the police who were assisting the Einsatzgrupen. Aside from that is the fact that the people who committed these atrocities are mostly dead or ancient. You cannot pin the crimes on people many generations apart, they had nothing to do with it. You are just speaking misinformation to try to propagate the same level of hatred that stemmed from the Nazi's ideologies and applying it to the Ukrainians. Next time you decide to make a comment in ignorance, think twice, and then actually watch and pay attention to the film you are commenting on.
