Yum. My favorite. I always try to buy local raised honey. Some of mine I’ve bought has been dark too. I don’t know how much the spinners cost, but I’ve seen some on KZbin that work great for getting the honey out of the frame. However you do it, it looks great. You’ve probably checked already, but you can learn a lot off of KZbin. I’d love to have honey bees on my property.

You need a hot knife and an extruder. The hot knife just cuts the top of the honeycomb off and you put the frames in the extrusion spinner and the honey runs out the bottom valve into the filter on top of the jars.

When you're harvesting honey, can you tell if there is only honey in the comb or if there are baby bees growing in there?

A beekeeper here too. If you're gonna take a frame of honey out you should move other frames into its place and place the blank frame on the outside of the brood box you took it from. When it comes to putting the frame back in the hive(after harvesting) it'll be hard for the bees to clean up the frame before a lot of the honey drips down the hive inviting other insects. So you should leave the frame close to the entrance, giving them the whole day to clean up that frame. The honey is dark because of the type of flowers they are getting pollen from. You could have strained it again and it might have gotten a little lighter. Great video though man, best of luck.

Hidden, I have been thinking of getting my own backyard hive. I am looking for local classes, but it seems they are all far away. Did you take classes, or just jump into it. I had a feral beehive in my block wall and had it removed from a beekeeper. He gave me all the honey comb and I extracted it using cheese cloth. The honey came out dark as well, and I think it was because I didn't filter it more. Anyway, it was good honey. Good job on your first time. If you get negative comments, keep in mind that there isn't anyone that starts off knowing everything about beekeeping.

Do you still have your bee hive? If not, maybe you could do a video about why you no longer have one and what you would do differently next time. If you do still have one, maybe you could do a video on how much you've learned since this initial harvest. You wanted video suggestions, so there you go, free of charge. 😂 Great video, though.
