This is some solid advice. I'd add I found it helpful for the GM to give the players a heads up that they plan to wrap up the campaign and also provide a timeline. That gives the players time to do a few final things and also time to prepare their epilogues. Bringing back NPC'S from early on in the campaign can be used to raise the stakes for the PC's. I also like giving sentimental rewards to the characters at the end, instead of treasure or magic items that won't get used.

Good point about GMs giving the players a heads up!

When we reached the end of a campaign, I gave the DM a gift. Players could chip in for a gift card, or D&DB membership if they don't already have one. Everyone could use another set of dice. Or, commission a party portrait or make something yourself. If your campaign was silly, or gritty, or emotional, maybe try to reflect that in a gift. Or, at least try to put it into words for a card.

I do think giving gifts is a very nice gesture. Great point about trying to reflect the tone of the campaign with the gift!
