I bought this album and listen to this song hundreds of times on my head phones. My dad had a radio gram. it was quite a good won. It had a hole where I could plug my head phones in. My very first wage as an apprentice bricklayer whent on them. £6 . Lot of money, I was on £15 a week in '76 . I come back to this album alot. Especially this beautiful song!

This song has so much to say to us now, about compassion and struggle and the sadness of the world that can make us harden our hearts. The impassioned delivery of the vocals is at times heart rending. Truly the attitude of our hearts should always be "if I can help you just let me know". Fellow travellers in a world with so much sorrow should lend each other a hand.

Supertramp; Hide In A Shell... I played the piano since I was a kid..and discovering Supertramp enrichened my reportoire in such a revoutionary, but funny way, that it changed my Life. "Even In The Quietest Moments" made me discover my Oneness with Everyone & Everything, and made me realy FEEL Creation in All Places..: I Am ❤️, and 'Hide In A Shell' was an invitation to get out, to let them see me, without fear of being patronized. THANK you so much, Supertramp❣️

There is so much emotion in all of Supertramps songs. I love how this one is so uplifting. I am also uplifted by so many people listening to this song and loving it. I feel like Hodgsons message is about he learned early on that love is the answer and he was worthy of love. Some of us didn't get that message early on and believed we were not worthy of love. Everyone is worthy of love. It doesn't matter what other people think or what is going on we need to be in self-love. Fear undermines love.
