This is like the first time I’ve seen a proper yet also simple video on the main use of a biscuit jointer.

Nice to see an informative video on this subject. I’ve been using mine since 86’ or so and just used it yesterday for cabinets I’m building. Great machine if you know when and how to use it properly.

If you are worried about the biscuit "telegraphing" over time on the top of your work piece, Just lower the slot a little to the inside of the work piece. Hard to explain but if you know you know. As said in another comment, knowing how to use it and when to use it is the key.

Or let the biscuit and workpiece dry after applying water based glue so the isn't swollen due to the water. It slows down final sanding but is simple.

I've always been under the impression that biscuits were more for alignment and don't create a strong joint. Is that another myth? Way cheaper than a domino.

Not a myth. They do add some strength, but it's highly dependent on the material used. If it's cheap material you can snap with your fingers (like the bags of cheap biscuits you can buy in the big box stores) , you've just filled a void with easy to break material. They do help with clamping and alignment though so that you can get more solid glue ups with less hassle.

I have heard that biscuits don't add strength as much as they allow god alignment, that the glue provides the strength. Comment?
