Yes I completly agree, even if I loved "Misery Is a Butterfly", they got lost then...

Jay Korber is as much essential for the history of indie rock music than John and Alan Lomax was for the blues. Thank you.

Saw them just a few weeks later on that tour, and this is as good as what I remembered. I was standing in the lobby with friends when the band walked in the venue. No joke: we felt their presence in the room before we even saw them. All three of them were (and still are as far as I can tell) out-of-this-world good-looking. Like, unfair-to-the-average-human good-looking. As if being a fantastic band wasn't enough.

Mon Chouchen: Kazu seems to have started to use the TG64 as a replacement for the Jazzmaster on songs such as Kazuality and Symphony of Treble. She used it quite often at that time and also on the "In an expression..." record. They actually sold it in 2011 to raise money for relief for the Great Touhoku Earthquake in Japan.

This is absolute gold. So glad you were there to record it. So awesome to see them playing a small venue up close and personal with the audience.

Just an observation. People seemed waayyy more truly appreciative and grateful for live music situations back then. Maybe we can no longer 'hear' music in itself, without the interuption and stranglehold of visual viral social media compelling us to consume. Strange... Guerilla live recordings like this are crucial for reference and record. Keeping it real. What a capture !🎉

Back then, if you didn't know someone who knew who they were to tell you, and a tree fell in the woods, would it make a sound? Art was interactive. You told others about things you thought were amazing because you cared about them and knew there was possibly no other way they'd get to hear the amazing sounds you were hearing unless you showed them, or told them or asked them along to a show.

I think it is coming back since music always wins and it is music that we want to interact with and listen not postproduction or excellent service changing the sounds or just visual… one of my students told me she realised that sound physically working into a space was amazing and previously she thought in a too ideological and narrow way about what was cool
