For some reason I'm not used to seeing a German Shepard be so playful. I guess they are always shown to be having a very serious role. This changes my image of the breed. Not a bad thing.

It's how they're raised. Even the serious Shepherd can be playful. I see a loving family that has nurtured every animal they've brought into their lives. And Bailey has shown each of them love. It spreads.

I've got to think that in the space a person lives in that the scent of that person must be incredibly strong for an animal with the sense of smell as acute as that of a dog, making it really hard for a dog to zero in on the actual person. It's like if you went into the kitchen blindfolded and someone is cooking fish or something else with a very distinct strong smell and asked you to find the plate with the fish on it; you'd have a hard time finding the plate when the whole room smells like fish. That's what you're living area must smell like to a dog, the whole space must seem like it is absolutely saturated with your scent, even if you yourself can't smell your scent.
