This is the Hieroglyphic trail located in Arizona USA.
Come join me virtually on this amazing hike. The trail is located at Gold Canyon which is about 40 miles east of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. At one point on this trail, you will witness ancient writing on the walls of the canyon. The Hieroglyphic trail is only about 3 miles roundtrip up a gentle slope covered with many cacti and loose stones underfoot. This hike is lined with wildflowers during the spring and leads you into a boulder filled canyon with year-round pools of water.
This mountain was formed more than 18 million years ago by intensive volcanic activity. The ancient writing on the walls that you will see are called petroglyphs. They were left behind by the Hohokam people who inhabited the area over 1,500 years ago.
The Start Elevation of the trail is 2,085 feet and the Max elevation is 2,655 feet.
