There is a good size parking lot here to park, but it can fill up quick. You will need hiking shoes and water, the trail is can be rocky and on a continuous incline. We don't have to travel to the the Middle East to find egyptian style of rock carvings. The southwest, has Petroglyphs found all over including here in Arizona. The Hohokam people, have left their carvings in the superstition mountains for at least 1000-1500 years and this is where I hiked too. Under the basic definition of the Hieroglyphs, they are a style of writing words, letters and symbols. Petroglyphs are symbols that have different meanings that are also carved into the rocks.
Hiking up to the Petroglyphs rock carvings was very enjoyable for me. There is a lot of desert beauty and panoramic views. Being out here was very relaxing and therapeutic, as I walked along the trail. I guess, there was more time to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. There are two different rock carving meaning I needed to get some clarity. So here is where you can find more information on these ancient rock carvings.
