@Revenger : it is good but to honest everyone (blokes) wanted the silk suits, designer shades *very* expensive cars and ladies dropping at their feet at some after watching this in the 80’s, unfortunately we had to put up with suits from Burton’s and a Ford Capri and badly made ‘cocktail’ at the local club after a few beers at the local lol oh and a lot of rejection from the ladies….

The 80's were rather nice but THE BEST period was 1964 or 5 to 1974 or 5. If you were anywhere from mid teens to early 20s, listening to the music across those 10 years was THE time. It was a time when music was evolving furiously and was endlessly inventive. The 80s were very synth, but were the last decade I really liked, especially the earlier 80s.

I was lucky. This show came out when I was in my mid-twenties, a magical age to be alive and to experience Miami Vice. Now, in my late 50s, life is mostly about shoring up finances for retirement and health issues, believe it or not. When I watch a simple Miami Vice video like this, it reminds that I've forgotten what life is really about and that there are endless possibilities to make one's life truly special. Maybe I'm just being way too nostalgic but the fact that this show and its music can evoke such strong emotions is a powerful testament to this show.

Hey desertjedi, Be happy you had a life like that. Im exactly in the mid of my 20s right now (25yo) and im already at the state you are. I strongly agree with your statement about videos and music especially like this, it sometimes can evoke really strong forgotten feelings of what life is really about. You travel back in time to your younger age and can have the same view on the world as you had back then for a brief moment, but it often vanishes out of my mind after a few days in my everyday life

well look at positibe side, lucky your alive! and can witness all these times. Young people go RIP....So enjoy your journey to witness a bit of everything :) Ofcourse theres such thing as nostalgia plus lets not forget its feels times were so much better because of age and when life felt like some magic. Now we have much more advanced health systems etc, its not that bad, its that we age and grow up with life problems and what ends up is nostalgia of no problems and viewing world as magic place :) Even I fall for this nostalgia trip and I was born in late 80s LOL, and im trippin over something that was behind when i was 1 years old lol. But yeah miami vice, baywatch, even beverly hills lol, but whats most depressing is todays music, and not switching all the way back to 80s, but until early 2000s, so many genres, one hit wonders, rock, metal, pop, whatever, bringing oldschool back, techno, you name it. Now its just sad where music went..2 genres maybe..

I was born in 77 and was able to see some of the 80s. Wish I was older but I saw enough to love it. My mother passed away June 6th of 2020 and my nostalgia has kicked into over drive. The day she passed, I talked with her for an hour and I asked her if she remembered what my favorite movie was, she said of course, Goonies. A few hours later she was gone. I have watched so much KZbin of commercials and anything related to 80s. Halloween, Christmas and just 80s in general. Its sickening to know how bad the US and the world has gotten over the last few years that all the strides we all have made to make our lives better has just went to waste.

oh man ,what I would do to be back in that decade....best decade of my life ever. the music was awesome, movies and series were fantastic. Maybe in todays standards they were not, but back then, when there was no internet, this was the shit. Technology was moving pretty fast and we saw many new things being introduced. VCR, Compact discs, we had the Sony Sports Walkman...so much fun stuff.. Sad to see how the world has changed into the shithole it is now and people born after the eighties will never know what an epic decade will look like. And that the eighties are appreciated nowadays, is very clear, as many people try to get relics from the era and pay high amounts for them. Thank full that I was there. I was born in '72 also... the 80s were God damned fucking magic. Think of the nonstop movie classics that were being produced year after year. Too many to name. TV shows were just f'ing fun and entertaining and plenty with a touch of the bizarre, off-the-wall vibe to 'em that just worked. And 80s music... man, it just didn't stop. It was such a fun, feel good era with no shame about it and Miami Vice really just splattered that 80s good vibe with near abandon.

No internet, no social media, no smart phones, no political correctness, no touch screens, no over complicated electric vehicles, no weird pronouns, only land lines, friends, the great outdoors, sunshine, family, analog gauges, true exotic cars with pop up headlights, great music and Miami Vice.

I can still remember watching this show after being introduced to it by a good friend of mine called Kevin (such an 80s name). Crocket and Tubbs were the coolest duo of the 80s. The look, sound, dialogue and subject matter summed up the 1980s perfectly. Miami Vice was a hugely successful and influential TV show that would go on to be mimicked by other TV shows as well as films. Don Johnson was cooler than ice, and Philip Michael Thomas was hotter than the Miami sun. The two men played Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, drug-enforcement officers in a bright and fashionable Miami. At the time Miami was a run-down town, plagued with drugs as well as other social and economic problems. It’s no secret that Miami Vice helped the area prosper to eventually become what it is today. The show was a watershed moment in TV much like how MTV changed music and music videos. Crocket and Tubbs took on hardened criminals and suffered for it. They showed the real side of policing, where the risk of being harmed or even killed was an occupational hazard. What really made the show for me, was their friendship. The loyalty and understanding they had for one another influenced me in a big way. When I think of great friendships, I think of Crocket and Tubbs, two men who couldn’t be more different, yet were prepared to die for each other. How many of us have a friendship like that? I can’t write about Miami Vice and not talk more about their pastel-shaded fashion, the stubble-faces, sock-free and carefree hairstyles. The look of Miami Vice is what made it stand out from other police shows. The pastel colours added warmth to their personalities and complemented the Miami sunshine. The colours popped out as did everything else in the show. The rough, unclean, dishevelled look was to Miami Vice what Clint Eastwood was to Fistful of Dollars. The grooming style reminded me of that 1960s Spaghetti Western look made popular by legendary as well as visionary film director Sergio Leone. I imagine Michael Man was influenced by Leone’s anti-hero characters. The Sonny Crocket look became very popular with guys. The light-coloured blazer, pastel T-shirt and shoes without socks became commonplace. I can still remember some of my older friends wearing this look. Oh, they didn’t wear sock because it was too hot! You’d need them in England! What a decade to have grown up in.

Synthesisers took music to another level and inspired artists to experiment vocally with it inspiring unusual confidence and results. Was back in the days when social media didn’t exist, and you stood in front of someone in real life and felt your feelings, and didn’t say things you didn’t mean.
