Great video, as always! I would select Adam T8V active monitors ($450), Ikea KNARREVIK end table pair as stands ($30), and a Bluesound Node ($500- on sale, or grab a Node 2i). I know it doesn't have a record player but I challenge anyone to put together a better sounding setup for under $1000 (NEW!!!). The T8V measures incredibly well and has enough low-end for most folks to skip a sub. And the bluesound is a great streamer.

Thank you so much for your advices from you and Kristi ❤ Im folowing you 3 years since I'm start looking for my first hi-fi system. I was renewing my apartment and with budget I have left I bought LG C1 55 oled together with Samsung q950a. Ufortunatley I need to quit buying quality hi fi system 😒 I couldn't find something what will look and sound better for roughly 2000€\2000$ what was cost of this system here in croatia. That year lgc1 was tv of year together with awarded samsung soundbar that year. I was so happy when you awarded this soundbar 3 years in row in your end of year winner videos. Now after 3 years I finaly decided to go with hi fi system which I will put in my bedroom which is around 16 square meters. I listen your advices and I see that Cambridge audio AXR 100 is your and Kristi choice. I'm just looking for hi quality sound which I will not listen high volume all the time (but I cannot promise that I will not power up time to time 😁 and put it maybe in my living room😅). I hope that its also have possibility to connect to tv via hdmi and woofer if I decide that I need some later on. For speakers I have listen Kristi's advice (sorry Andrew 😊) for Monitor audio bronze 100 g6. Because they look great specialy for my taste wallnut edition. And I beleve you and Kristi (who else??😉😉😉😀) they also sound great. Now I see on some Croatian page they are on sale for 500€ eq. 500USD. I'm not stuck now with budget and I can stretch little bit more like 1500 or 1700 if you recommended me some other speakers together with cambridge or even if you want to change cambridge for something else (this cambridge also look beautiful for me). I was also looking rottel from your recent video and doesent have fm radio and hdmi connection.. I'm streaming music from spotify and from tidal from my phone ( tidal premium hifi I have trial for 3 months and its sounds great), but I'm looking also some stream device (preamp I still don't uderstand what it does to music) which will sit in this budget or its not neccesary now I can buy it for year or so.(I was looking ONLY Nad T778 which its kinda my dream for 3500€, maybe for 10 years 😅😅😅😅😅).For me is important mainly quality speakers and amp. I'm so confused soo many options B&W, Klipsch, Dali oberon, Q acustics.....bookshelf or tower...Thank you Andrew for your time and I'm looking foward to your answer and to your and Kristi new videos ❤❤❤

Love this…wish I’d have seen it about a year ago. Here is the system I put together that was way more than $1000: Schiit Sol turntable w/ mani phono preamp…$928 Klipsch RP-500M…$479 Reisong A10 EL34 tube amp…..$451 (with shipping from China) Total: $1,858 While I love this system and listen to it several times per week, it is almost double what you have put together. I really wanted to go old school full analog with a tube amp for this system so I guess the only thing I’d change is the turntable. If I had it to do over I think I’d go with the U-Turn Orbit Plus with the Schiit Mani Phono Pre Amp. With that the systems still would have been over $1000 coming in at $1358. Could have used that extra $500 for more LPs. 😉 Oh well…I still love my system and that’s what counts. Thoughts?

You two put together some great systems. I might do it a bit different. 1. Cambridge AXR 85 $400 2. Elac Debut 2.0 B62 $288 3. A "Fanless" Mini Windows PC about $160 4. Schiit Modi $99.00 All in at $947 The PC lets you stream pretty anything i.e., audio, video, MP3, whatever. You just need to connect the PC to your existing video display. Honestly this similar to my personal set up. I usr the AXR100 (which is amazing) a Schiit Bi-Frost Multibit, ELAC Debit 2.0 F62s and other stuff. I suggested a similar system as AXR85 for friends and they love it.

Sorry Andrew, Kristi has you beat here. 😜 Your systems are absolutely *great,* but I'd choose her 2nd setup with the Tannoys hands down. Really fun video! Awesome picks all the way around, I could be happy with any of these setups. I love budget components, fun stuff. 💙

Great video, folks! I’m an AXR 100 owner and love it, but the BT in it is bad. I spent 20 dollars on a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord to use the AUX plug on the front and it works great. Before the AXR 100 went to 600 it was my go to recommendation for everyone.

Way to go Kristi. I can’t believe that you beat Andrew at his own game. Anyway, I don’t know if I can do three different 2-Channel Setups for under $1,000.00 each without sacrificing any quality. But I believe I can do one (for sure). System #1: Speaker System: Q Acoustics 3010i - $300.00. Stereo Receiver: Cambridge Audio AXR85 - $400.00 Turntable: Music Hall USB-1 (for now) - $200.00 (upgrade later on) Price: $900.00 OR GET THIS ONE… System #2: Q Acoustics 3020i (Again) - $300.00 (but upgrade the Stereo Receiver, and leave off the source component (s) for now and add those later on). Stereo Receiver: Cambridge Audio AXR100 - $500.00 The built-in tuner will have to suffice for now. Total: $800.00 System #3: Speaker System: ELAC Debut B5.2 - $290.00 Integrated Amplifier: NAD C 316 BEE v2 - $450.00 Music Streamer: Arylic S50 - $175.00 (off of e-Bay) Total: $915.00 Also, please note that none of these systems do not include stands, cables and none of the other accessories. SOooo, did I pass? Or not? -Charles-

This was a fun episode. For powered speakers I would go with the Klipsch the Fives, I don’t think these need a sub and you could stream via your TV or bluetooth. It’s a good all round choice and under budget 🙂 My alternative choice would be the Sonos Amp as it’s good value, has a good app for streaming and 125w per channel. This would only leave you with about 300 for speakers though, so the Kanto speakers or Jamos will be an option. If you don’t mind pushing over 1000 the Sonos Amp plays very nicely with Klipsch or Kefs (from my own experience).

You know, I almost included those because they are HDMI ready but at the time of filming I didn't think the app had been updated. Someone said Klipsch finally came out with an update (only been waiting on it over a year) and if this is true and it works, would have been a game time decision.
@shemsureshot
@shemsureshot 2 жыл бұрын
@@KristiWright Yeah they are great sounding powered speakers, and yeah the HDMI connection is a strong selling point too. I forgot the Fives worked with the app so I’ll have to look later to see what’s new. I just had a thought though, you could add those stands you recommended with the Fives and still be in budget!

I have the axr100 and RP-600s that I got on sale for a little over 700 dollars for both. I was able to find both items on sale, I don't have the rt 85, but I do have the Rega P1 plus with an upgraded glass platter. Love my system.

Kristi 1, Andrew 0. :-) Another speaker option at the current time: KEF Q150 on sale thru year-end for $350 (down from $600). When pairing with the Cambridge equipment, don't overlook the front panel 3.5mm port as it overcomes the volume limitation issues with smartphones/tablets. The port has a 10db boost. This opens the door for Apple/Android users to use an external dongle DAC and get excellent audio quality from Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz, or Amazon Music. Don't want to use your current phone, then use an old phone. As always very enjoyable content.

In my opinion what works pretty well for budget speakers (specially towers) and subs is to search for manufacturers from your country or nearby that you may like. These things can be big and heavy, and transportation and taxes can make a significant impact at low budgets. And being local it will be easier to find good offers and a showroom to listen them before you buy.
