I love how HiFiMan uses Sanskrit to name their headphones - "Sundara" means beautiful, "Susvara" means sweet-voiced, and "Ananda" means joy or bliss in Sanskrit. So, it looks like these headphones live up to the "Ananda" name.

Good review as always. I recently picked these up for 599 and they are pretty spectacular for the price. I've been eyeing them since they came out and at this price, I had to pull the trigger. I bought these as a everyday alternative to my Beyer T90's, with my computer and home theater. With the exception of rock, I prefer these. They sound so huge, which is great with movies and video games. I find them to be excellent with strings and classical in general. They have a nice tonal balance but lack a little energy in the upper bass. They don't really stack up against my TH900 Mk2's in my main system, especially in detail and dynamics but they are clearly on another level than the Hifiman 400i's with my computer system.

Wait, what do you mean by super-chill? Am I deaf or something? Ananda is a bit bass light, elevated treble - is that chill for you guys? It's far, far away from warm or chill. I had my hands on Ananda in a showroom and it was more aggressive than my 560s even. Isn't "super-chill" something that's below the Harman curve for treble?
@niko1even3 жыл бұрын
@@tonezou3918 Chill doesn’t always have to be more low. Its treble is elevated to the point of having really good detail retreival, but not to the point of “IN YOUR F***ING FACE” detail. That combined with the grand sound that it has craeates this sort of perfect environment where you can just relax with these, whether you’re listening on the couch, watching a movie, or really anything, it just does it all.

These changes were made some time in 2018/2019. From the latest FR measurements, this eliminates the subbass roll-off and tame the upper mids and air region. If you want a headphone for music and gaming go for akg k702. I have both and the AKG is way better than the Ananda for gaming.

One reason why I havent bought a hifiman is because of the revisions. Too much fomo with the other revisions. Also build quality and quality control.

I grabbed a 4he or something on sale on amazon, and it came with a busted R input. Sent it back and got a sundara for a decent price, and it's my go to when I'm at home and want to listen privately. Nice old pioneer folding flagship for travel. And those are ALL the headphones I'm ever going to buy, ever again...after chasing better/newer/different sounds to the tune of $1400 over an 9-10 month period. Nope. No more!

You need a Hifiman if you haven't had a Hifiman and think this way. Revisions mean hardly..just because the headphone was revised doesn't mean the OG wasn't good. I own the Ananda it's my go to headphone at home..when I'm in the office I use Dan Clark Aeon RT Closed. Perfect planar combo for the $ so far I haven't regretted my purchase. Purchased my Aeon RT around 2 months ago. Purchased my Ananda around 15 months ago. Still going strong

@@dillacorn_linux maybe when i find a good deal on one. I want to hear the soundstage on the sundara. Quality control is another reason why i havent touched focal but i want the radiance. If i get a hifiman, ill save my pennies for a he1000 v2 or the he6. My loss but eventually ill get there. Maybe. I love my aeon 2 c.

What an unbelievable blabbermouth! 26 min. video and not a word about resolution, bass, treble, mids compared to other HP etc. But he talks about naked women and oiling. Unbelievable!

Yes, but you can get that info on other channels. The outstanding point that he does make is about the actual listening experience, which is more relaxed than the others he has hanging on the wall. Could be exactly what I am looking for considering price, characteristics of my amp/dac, etc. Build quality I guess you just have to take a chance on.
