Im running an Alpine cda7873, 2001 model 20yrs old! And its by choice too. Its got the 60x4 V-Drive internal amp. Although not recommended, i ran a pair of 2ohm 10s off the rear channels with a pair of LC filters i threw together and wish id had my clamp meter then because it pulled enough juice that the front display was dimmimg. I had to get an amp for my mids/highs because the headunit had too much power i couldnt get past half volume. 4v Sub pre out works great on my 2 amp, 4 12s setup. Oh and the best part, found it locally on FB marketplace for a whopping $25. My first Alpine ive always ran Pioneer, 5 or 6 units ranging from $60-200 in my 15yrs of driving and cant complain but Alpine is my #1. Great vid KEEP ROCKN!!!

I've had a few decent pioneer headunits I recently had acquired a lightly used pioneer deh-p3700mp super tuner IV, and I still have a refurbished Kenwood excelon x301 that I had bought to put in the 86 Chevy k20 custom deluxe that I traded for the current early 94 Chevy Silverado Z71 extended cab short bed that my Sony xplod CDx L600X CD player is installed in.thinking I'm going to change to the pioneer Deh-p3700mp when I put subs and amplifier in the truck..

I'm using an early 2000 sony deck and I love it. Can still play my old cd's and has aux to use my phone. Best of all I paid $35 shipped off of ebay last year

Not a choice of mine but I can see your point. Some recent JVCs claim 2.5v but never reach it even at top volume so this Alpine is doing better in all respects.

The old-school CD head units are just as good as the new ones. I have the Alpine 149BT and I absolutely love it.

the answer is yes! if you take and look at factory fitted players, they were outdated without EQ. or usb or sd card and was several generations behind the ones you bought from pioneers. It's been a long time since Pioneer started with EQ. mp3. wav and bass crossover and 2v rca out. Manually adjustable, custom EQ. is important to have !!

I miss my old Alpine Car AI Net Receiver (CDA-7832) was the best looking in my opinion and had the killer full size eq in my 2000 Mustang GT.

Nice video as always, Hifi! I have 2 CD Stereos from 2013. One JVC, and one Sony, and they both work fine! On an unrelated subject, I have a question if I may... I bought a Rockford P10002 amp last summer, which works fine, but the idle current is about 4 amps! Is that normal? The other smaller Punch amps, only pull 2 or 2.5 amps of idle current. Thanks in advance!

This headunit is a well known distortion monster. Anything from the 9855 and on is garbage IMO, aside from the iva800, I haven't used it but seems beast

The soft clip 😂 I have owned a alpine deck in the past and I will never buy one again. My music sounded distorted I went back to pioneer. Pioneer put alpines sound quality to shame.
