I did electrical for 20 yrs and used just about every brand there is cutting up to 4/0 THHN copper and what you need to realize is this, 15 yrs and thousands of cuts later and the Kleins still cut like butter. Worth every penny.

One of you best tests to date. Awesome! I bought the Doyle about a month ago. I haven't used them yet but I could tell that they were a really good cable cutter the moment I took them out of the package. Glad to see that they fared well against the competition. Once I get the mini shop up and running, I'll be using them a lot.

It's hard to go wrong with klein or channellock but I've been impressed with every doyle tool. I got the diagonal cutters open box for $5 and abused them daily for years. They're still as sharp and smooth as the day I got them Really liking the tool reviews

Doyle has been great for me as well. Thanks

I owned the WISS cutter before watching video. They are stiff, a little Kroil and use they will smooth out. Made it thru a piece of 4/0 I had laying around, but not without a lot of effort and turning the cable twice!. If they break I will spring for the Kliens, not seeing the need to cut anything bigger than 2/0 for now. Great tool test.

If you slow the video down you can watch the gauge peak when you slam down

It peaks right at the moment it cuts through. I made sure to slow down every piece of footage to ensure I got the proper reading
@wambuka2 жыл бұрын
Most of the measurements are in the 220-250 Nm range. This equals around 25 kg / 55 lbs weight at 1 meter (40" / 3,3 ft) distance. You have about 5 to 6 inch leverage which means roughly 6-8 x the weight at 1 meter. That's up to 200 kg equal weight. A strong male has hand squashing power of around 50-60 kg. If these numbers were right, no man on earth could cut these wires with any of these pliers. There is definitely some flaws in these measurements and compared to similar tests done by Project Farm these numbers are ridiculously high.
@wambuka2 жыл бұрын
It could of course be that the measurements were not Nm (mass x G / distance from pivot point) but simple Newtons (mass x G).

My father was a telecom splicer and then engineer and he swore by Klein tools. When he ran his own crews he always recommended to the new guys to spend the money and get Klein. As a skilled DIY guy and car audio enthusiast who wasn't always smart enough to take dads advice I've tried a lot of cheapo tools. But when I've decided to spend the money Klein tools have never failed me. Channel Lock always seems to be a great value and Greenlee is what I consider a great value as well. Given all that your test results don't surprise me but I'm glad to see the results anyway.

I’m a bit of a Klein fanboy myself and only a few of their tools have ever let me down
@mmilano6262 жыл бұрын
Holy shit! You do realize that the reason you're getting roughly the same "NM" readings with the first handful is because your slamming the cutters closed while still touching the handle....
