I went to the local recycling place yesterday and there was a planet audio TT1250D laying on the pile so I grabbed it and took it home. I took off the back and there didn't look like anything wrong, no burned smell or parts so I tried it on my power supply set to 2 amps and it turned on but there was no output...I had watched one of your other video's about how the inductor can sometimes vibrate and come loose and sure enough that's what it was...I tried your method of taking one wind off and re soldering it and it now works fine...Fuckin eh man I'm so glad I watch your vids :D CHEERS!!!

I’ve heard good things about those Hifonics amps. Apparently they chuck out a lot of power, but go up in smoke quite easily.
@djhaloeight5 жыл бұрын
probably the most sorted out hifonics amp on the planet now! they always have bad build quality from the factory. you’ve straightened that all out now on this lucky amp.

I have a HiFonics BEX2150.1D that according to him, my son reversed positive and negative power. Upon looking at all the components, ONLY the 4 - 2200uF 100V 105 degree C capacitors on the power side show signs of damage. Is there a way for me to test the unit without a scope and only a multi meter? Thanks for these videos.

Thank buddy for answering my question on the ground lead on the oscilloscope. I know many would like to know that. I currently only repair oldschool Soundstream amps, due to the fact that I bought out one of the original employees who worked for them back in the 90’s. He had a repair business afterwards and since stopped repairing back in 2001. I offered him some cash for all of his components. Basically I have plenty of new old stock components. Add me on Facebook and you can check out my setup. Jeremy Scott Loftis. Thanks again for the great work getting this info out in a well orchestrated and edited affair. Cheers!

One other thing... I to have been getting some bad new parts that have read a capacitor in my tester. I have the same tester you have as well. What brand of transistor was that? Maybe it’s bad parts from the same manufacturer.

do you know which is high and which is low just by powering it and measuring? if you were to get an amp with no fets in it and you did not know the layout. would you just power it like you have here and measure to know if the rectifiers are in the correct locations?

i'll ask a question and hope you can help me.. i have a renegade ren1800 stereo amp, and i connected (bridged) soundstream t4 12" sub at 2ohms/series if i use the low pass filter - the volume/output is unusually low, and when it's on full/hpf it's perfectly normal. what's the deal? i tried with several subs/speaker, still the same

Question! I want to repair my driverboards but the ic's have the part #'s scraped off. Take that hifonics amp in this video for example, what ic's would you use to replace the ones on that amps driver board? And is there a common ic that can be used on most of the driver boards of that style? For the output section of course. Thank you for your help witch is desperately needed on this!

Hi sam.... Sooke a good few time on bb... Do you do bench tests to find out output. Also is there any upgrading a kenwood kac-9104d?
@barevids7 жыл бұрын
mat k I do bench tests, there might be some upgrades we can do but they rarely see any gains over about 500wrms.

I notice you say low side and high side a lot... Is there any way to identify the high and low side without probing it, and visually seeing high and low voltage?
@barevids6 жыл бұрын
not really, you can do with a multimeter, the high side has positive rail on leg 2, and the low side has negative rail on 1 and 3. The low side starts the switching process off and the high side drives in relation to the output of the low side mosfet drain.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I have another question. I just started buttoning up a repair on a optidrive 7001.d. Its ready to go ,everything is new in the amp but one last thing. Vibration caused one of the toriods wires to break, causing the failure. And it broke towards the middle of its wind. Can I solder the two pieces of wire together and wind it back up? Do I have to get new wire? Can I buy a new one, if so where? Its in the output section. I have parts amplifiers but none of them are that big, mostly hifonics brutus 2400 sized amps. The toroids on the hifonics are close in size and value but not exactly. What would you do in this situation? P.S. your help has got me through a lot of amplifiers I thought I would never have fixed! Now I need your help more than ever because I'm going to put this amp in my personal vehicle!
@samvennard63807 жыл бұрын
unwind the original one and carefully count the number of winds. You need to get it exactly right. Then just order new copper wire and re-wind it. Try and get the same thickness.
@joshhanson67777 жыл бұрын
Sam Vennard thankyou sam.
@barevids7 жыл бұрын
haha i replied on the wrong account. But yeah no worries!
@joshhanson67777 жыл бұрын
Sam Vennard ok, its three pieces of wire soldered together on each end that make the wind. I guess best thing to do is unsolder the broke wire from the others, find one of the same size and replace and rewind. Thanks for your help. Thats what I'll do. I just didn't know if I could solder the break or not. Thanks again
@barevids7 жыл бұрын
yeah dont solder the break it wont be reliable. Or, you can take off all the wire, straighten it out, and measure the total length of it, and replace with the same length of wire.
