High Contrast - Vintage Vinyl Liquid Funk DJ Set (feat. MC DRS)

Recorded live at XOYO 16th August 2019 as part of Calibre's DJ residency there. This was a great opportunity for me to dust off the old dubplates and play some classic liquid sounds from around the early 00's era. Weirdly, a few hours before my set the barman at the hotel bar spilt boiling hot water on my left hand which meant I had to dj mostly one handed for this set, not so easy with vinyl! Still, the crowd brought the vibes and got me through it so it was a really memorable gig.

Wicked selection filled with so many classics! I gotta say thought - big up High Contrast for digging out the dusty vinyl and also for playing injured. I feel like the scene needs more and more old and new DJs to start playing vinyl again or at least every now and then as in order for the culture to stay alive we need to inspire the future generations. No need for arguing about the medium and how the music matters and not the source, but let's be real here - there's something special about a DJ playing vinyl in front of you and putting in the effort to actually beat match and use his ears. :)
