What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

Amazing engineering work. I wonder if the projectile is saturated, it could be possible to commutate magnetic field direction when it passes the middle of the coil, so it would add a repelling force to it, in a way that would be like adding more stages without using more space. I know it's too difficult to calibrate and even measure/comprehend the timings of magnetic field changes, not to mention the hard work of putting this devices together. This coilgun looks like years of work. Thanks for sharing this information. And again, amazing work.

@tomtechtod92003 жыл бұрын
Yes, few turns only. A core is useless unfortunately because at the magnetic field strength used it would be severely overmagnetized. The main limit here is the current capability of the mosfets

@tomtechtod92004 жыл бұрын
Yes I also expected higher efficiency. The coils are only a couple of uH, the current essentially looks like a square wave with very short on/off times. Efficiency could maybe be improved using powdered iron or laminated steel projectiles, distributing the main capacitance over the length of the first module and reducing Ampere/Turns (which makes the "barrel" longer for the same velocity). I'm done experimenting though with this

The only difference I'd make Is wind EVERY LAYER the same direction, so the magnetic fields of each layer would be n/s, n/s, n/s, n/s, n/s You've wound it back and forth, so you're magnetic field of each layer will be n/s, s/n, n/s, s/n, n/s Do you see how they'll give totally different results? It PUSHES the magnetic field outwards through repulsion, Winding back and forth PULLS the magnetic field inwards through attraction within the coil layers itself Hopefully you might try a side by side, for others to see as that's one comparison not done yet ;) definitely 2-3x stronger
@tomtechtod92007 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not much gain can be obtained that way. The main limitation of these coilguns is saturation of the projectile. Once it's saturated the force on the projectile decreases substantially, with the same magnetic field strength. That's why all ferromagnetic projectile designs are still clunky. The best designs use a higher mass projectile and therefore have higher kinetic energy, still at very low velocities compared to firearms.

Perfect gaussgun! But the efficiency is indeed low especially for half-bridge configuration ! Maybe because of the projectile form? Or the coils contain too little turns?
@tomtechtod92004 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah, I was expecting at least 12% for this config. Increasing turns would make the current rise more slowly and the magnetic field would be generated too late. Higher voltage could help with that which increases part cost. I think the fast current rise time in the coil just in front of the projectile is actually counterproductive; I should turn on the coil some time before the projectile reaches that coil so it would only see a DC field. The position sensing is fixed though and not programmable.
@EugeniusMit4 жыл бұрын
@@tomtechtod9200 , you could get much more efficiency,> 30 %. Here i got some calculations: coilgun.ucoz.com/publ/theoretical_papers/coilgun_calculations/efficiency_assessment_for_a_half_bridge_coilgun_in_real_operating_conditions/7-1-0-18 I think the problem in your case is that the circuits are in free-wheeling state for too long time after having reached a current limit, so the recuperation is inefficient...
@tomtechtod92004 жыл бұрын
@@EugeniusMit Interesting paper, but it's theoretical, I wish someone to build it - at low voltage. My current pulse looks similar to what is in that paper. At one point it states "Then the projectile must get no less than 4 m/s per stage supplied the velocirty gain is the same for all the coils (this assumption is plausible for multistage systems" which I think is incorrect. For a constant velocity gain you would need increasingly more energy for each stage, that would be very hard to achieve. Also, during the freewheeling time the coil regenerates back into the capacitors + there is current through the coil during that time which made me assume there is still a magnetic field and consequently a force applied to the projectile. What do you think
@tomtechtod92004 жыл бұрын
I really think one major contributor to efficiency is coil activation depending on projectile position, it might be suboptimal here.
@EugeniusMit4 жыл бұрын
@@tomtechtod9200 , the identical velocity gain on all stages is of course an approximation, but it maybe close to reality because the acceleration is more efficient per unit energy spent when the speed is higher ( in my coilguns I clearly saw when the same capacitor placed in subsequent stages transferred different energy to a projectile).

Given that a bullet travels about 1000 meters/s it seems you're wasting your time here. The highest magnetic density occurs when you have a single turn coil. The more turns you add the weaker the field gets because all those added turns get pushed further away and just increase coil resistance and inductance. Try using just a few turns, but the in rush current will be huge so you'll need capacitors that can handle the high current surge.
@tomtechtod92004 жыл бұрын
Waste of time, not. Learned something. Bullet 1000m/s? Many are slower. And, these coils are small btw. Main limitation here is projectile saturation and consequently low efficiency
@RobertA-hq3vz4 жыл бұрын
@@tomtechtod9200 speed varies I guess, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muzzle_velocity. I'm thinking you're probably not getting the magnetic field strength high enough, fast enough. Assuming you stick with 50v then the only thing you can do is reduce coil inductance. Hence smaller coils(thicker wire), not bigger coils. Less turns, more impulse current. Add cooling to bring the coil temperature down. Cool the bullet too.
