When investing in a high-end BCD (short for Buoyancy Control Device), you want to make sure you’re making the perfect decision… This can be tricky! In this video, Chris from ADRENO Melbourne takes the hassle out of the choice and offers three high end BCD's perfect for advanced scuba diver.
The BCD allows divers to control their buoyancy by inflating or deflating a bladder to achieve positive, neutral or negative buoyancy. The buoyancy devices are comfortable and easy to wear, offering a practical solution when diving. BCD's are fully adjustable and can be bought in different designs and size to fit.
Here are Chris's top three high-end BCD recommendations:
1. Oceanic Atmos BCD
The Oceanic Atmos BCD is a durably-constructed, full-featured hybrid air-cell BC. Unique, hybrid rear-inflation bladder enables air to “shift,” which provides maximum amount of lift and keeps you properly orientated on or below the surface. This BCD features 20 lbs (9 kg) of integrated weight in the Pinch & Release system and 10 lbs (4.5 kg) trim, a padded backplate and three (3) over pressure relief valves optimize buoyancy control.

2. Aqua Lung Dimension BCD
The Aqua Lung Dimension BCD is comfortable and practical, with a rolled neoprene neck collar, adjustable chest strap, HP hose routings are threaded through the back to minimise the size of your kit. Functionality wise the Dimension BCD showcases the SureLock II Mechanical Weight Release System which lets you easily insert the weight pouch and you can hear a "click" confirming your weights are now sitting secure in your BCD. Once the Surelock system is engaged the weight can be quickly and easily released with a firm tug on the handle. The Wrapture Harness System is also in-place ensuring your BCD will not ride up once surfaced.
This BCD is a nice mixture of black and grey making it a great unisex BCD for all, the low profile flat valves aid in reducing drag when moving through the water. You can also use the bladder retraction system which lets you keep your unit streamlined and reduce drag as it pulls in the sides of the bladder during deflation. Another handy feature is the Octo-Pocket located on the right lobe which secures your occy and keeps it easily within sight and reach throughout your dive.
