I live where the Genesee and the Allegany rivers come out of the ground,, both within a mile of each other. Where both rivers can be stepped across without getting your feet wet. Several of the tributaries of the Genesee River have smaller waterfalls and beautiful gorges just south of Letchworth State Park. If you're ever in that area and want a guide,, look me up,, I would be more than happy to show you some beautiful places. There are several abandoned places in the area also.

So glad you did another Rochester video! My nephew is a manager at the Genesee Brewhouse at the brewery. My niece was married at the Brown's Race overlooking the High Falls! Magical! You got amazing footage! The house I live in was built by a gentleman that owned a shoe factory about 10 blocks from the falls, used the river for his power for the factory! TY! Rochester ..... getting closer to my neck of the woods a little over an hour away. When Buffalo declined in the 80's, Rochester took off economically. As you see, now Rochester is in decline. Cyclical. So much rich history there.... underappreciated. You didn't have to fight the crowds to document what you saw & explored. Good that you didn't take on this trip by yourself. Good to have company when you are there. Simply gorgeous footage of these historical sights! You could definitely sell your stills to the Rochester Chamber of Commerce ...if only they would embrace promoting their city's rich history. 👍 So many worthwhile things to see! ☺

That water falls is extreamly powerful and yet beautiful. Loved the train going over the water falls, what a great picture. I hope and pray that water stays where it is, if that got over the banks it would be a great mess. What a sight to see like I have said before out east is so much history its increadable what you all find. I can't get over all the rail road tracks just not in use. This was very good, love it all.

THIS was great. I live in the building across the street from the place you said trains would come in and drop coal for the insinerater. Funny thing is, I never knew any of this existed. I did walk on that path you were on, where the coal dropped, just to see what was over there, since I live across the street, but it was a bit scary so I just walked the short path and came back up on State St. again. Thanks for showing me around.

JP again you are doing an excellent job at showing what and how the past had been lived all those many decades ago. It is this kind of history that needs to remain, to remind us all of what past life was really like and how manual labour was the backbone to life. (Not like todays era where we just push a button or remote control operates everything for us now.) This history is what I love seeing about our worlds progress, but more so, on how it was thought out and then engineered into such great feats to brought these towns and surrounding areas into great populations all those years past; and how, or if these areas prospered or declined as technology and engeneering advanced to the present. I truely doubt that many of todays youth would have been able to handle the grind that was needed back in these beginnings of the era, and all just to survive daily life. Thanks for bringing these videos to the world, including Australia. 🖒🖒🖒

It used to be a popular family gathering place on Thursday night back in the 90s. Those buildings were the control centers for a powerful music and lazer light show in the summer that attracted thousands from everywhere. There were vendors, street performers, and magic shows. It was all sponsored by the city. As crime, violence and vagrancy escalated, people just stayed away. Rochester's societal decay destroyed everything. A character named Sam Patch was the center of the display. He was a daredevil that performed alongside his bear at the upper falls. One day he and his bear leapt together but only the bear survived. Sam Patch was never seen again alive, but some claim to have seen his ghost.

Another great video! If you do return to Rochester, you have to explore the lower falls. You can enter them from the Rose Garden, they are open to the public. Awesome views and you get really close to the river. Also there are many cool and unique statues there including one that resembles a tree who’s bark is constructed of faces. And a little further north into the city ( near Maplewood park and pond) is another pedestrian bridge. It has a few viewing spots that you can go to and eventually ends in Seneca park which has a trail that leads behind the zoo, nothing to special but definitely unique.

I lived in Rochester for several years. If you drove down Lake Ave to Charlotte (a suburb of Rochester & pro ounced shahlot), you would have seen where the Genesee empties into Lake Ontario. There is a long pier that juts quite a ways out into the lake. I'm told that now that the lake is high, you can sometimes see mink that live there. Also, there is a large merry-go-round that is original. I don't know the date, but there are plaques with information there. You can take a ride on it when it's running. There is free parking.
