So inspiring. I remember when they used to show this just before the network would go off the air. America was an inspiring country back then. How far we have fallen.

I was a kid here in CA and would stay up until tv station sign off just to watch this. I was living with my father at the time and all my adult life seeing it reminds me of him and that time of life. An exciting time it was with the space shuttle testing and the very first shuttle launch during those years.

Incredible video... This was our sign-off @ KABC-TV 7 in Los Angeles -- back in the day when we did sign-off... Thanks for posting! 5 million Stars!

As a kid on school nights I used to set my alarm for 1:55 am and sneak into the living room and turn on the tv to abc channel 7 just to watch this on the sign off. Years later I would be a fueler at Edwards AFB and I got to fuel that exact plane on a daily basis and this may sound silly but it was an honor for me.

What a great kid you must have been. How times have changed. Now, kids have drag story hour to inspire them.

Was channel 2 KDKA's(1st radio/tv station in the US) sign off for many years until cable/satellite made tv 24/7. Absolutely beautiful poem and a fitting end to nightly viewing, miss those days.

I remember the TV station played this every night before signing off. I absolutely loved it and have been dying to see it again. Thank you.

I loved to watch it as a kid. Bad vision kept me grounded and killed my dreams of being a military pilot. Years later I was lucky enough to work on many aircraft the T-38 being one of. Great film, a classic.

Just awesome. October 2010, after 20 flightless years, hired an instructor, rented an aircraft, and went out for an hour. It all came back to me.

ahhhh...beautiful music, beautiful poem and the beautiful Northrop F-5. Doesn't get much better than this!

I remember seeing this sign off on TV when I was very young. Touched me even then and extra touching knowing this is a Northrup airplane since my late husband worked for Northrup in Los Angeles. He's touching the face of God now.

A fitting poem for Sayy Ride and the many others that have passed bringing us closer to freeing ourselves from Earths bonds.

@USNJetJockey No, the Tigershark was a single engine design by Northrop based on the same airframe but a much different aircraft.
