There is white boundary around the lens. I think it is due to improper / tapered cutting of lens. Can you confirm this thought?

I worked as an optician years ago ( before settling on commissioned sales ). There are "tricks" that good opticians use. First, use a 1.67 index lens, have the optician do a "hide a bevel" to disguise the edge. Lastly, see if they will "dip" the lenses in a pink dye for a minute to further disguise the "white' edges...

It would be more helpful (for me) to see the difference between 1.64 and 1.74 as that is usually what I would choose between. I am guessing that for -5.50 (which is the same as mine) there will be very little difference in thickness between those two, but a big price difference. But I think someone deciding if they should get 1.56 (the cheapest) would be comparing with 1.6 or 1.64 and if it is worth it, not with the very expensive 1.74. Also depends on the frames of course... I once got thin frames as an emergency/temporary pair with 1.56 lenses and they looked much thicker than in your video (lens width was 55mm). So I would never choose 1.56 again, but maybe 1.6 would be okay with a thicker frame and smaller lens like 50/51/52mm wide. I was told to try and keep the lens width at 50mm or less to make the lens look thinner, but that really, really limits your choice of frames and most will look to small on a larger face. 😀

@@learnwithlife7981 Hi, I went for 1.64 as it was way cheaper and from what I read, going for 1.74 would not have made much visible difference, unless you had 2 pairs and compared them side by side you probably wouldn't notice? So I decided 1.64 was good enough (thin enough) even if 1.74 would be even thinner. For the same price as one pair with 1.74 lenses I could almost get 2 pairs with 1.64. It seemed where 1.74 would really make a difference would be higher strength prescriptions than mine.
