Churchill was responsible for the disaster at Gallipoli in WW1 in his capacity as the First Lord of the Admiralty, where tens of thousands of men died because of his stupidity and planning. He was subsequently demoted after this disaster. He was a slurring drunk who needed a BBC actor "Larry the Lamb" to read his wartime speeches for him over the radio. I will never understand the stupid insistence that Churchill was a hero, but the high IQ one is a new one for me. You don't figure his numerous positions was due to him being born into aristocracy? In other words, his track record shows his positions had nothing to do with merit or competence, but due to his birth.
