Do you have any research on stretching for hj? I’ve read studies on the importance of having flexible hips and seen the elite jumpers hitting splits, but I haven’t seen anything proving it’s effectiveness

From what I've read static stretching is terrible for performance, doing it too often can change where the muscle produces peak forces(and reduces peak force output in general too). So doing mobility and lite stretching to remain flexible enough for proper sprinting mechanics is ok, but static stretching every session is overkill. Never actually read anything good about stretching unless it's about rehabbing from injury.

I can get my head to the basketball rim do you think I haven enough vertical capacity to jump over 6’6?
@matehj
@matehj Жыл бұрын
if you do it off 1 leg, then 100% and you could probably go even higher than 6'6. If you jump off 2, then no clue at all

Hello Mate! Been watching your vids for a while, thanks for your content! I wonder what shoes would you recommend for HJ training? Not the spikes, because I already own a couple pairs from nike, and they're absolutely great for jumping and especially approaching, but I also need some good-amortization shoes for doing all sorts of lead-up exercies prior to high jump itself, such as 1 leg jumps, vertical jumps with a take-off leg, some hurdle jumps etc. etc, so, what's your advice and that? Would be some Air Max or maybe React models good for that? Or should I look at other brands, not only Nike? Also, what shoes do you personally wear for that type of training? Thank you!

Obviously look at any brand! No loyalty here until they start paying us haha. When it comes to sneakers it's tough, I usually just go for a running trainer that isn't ridiculously thick. I've used the Nike peagusus which was ok, and right now I'm using the puma scend pro men's running shoes (I really like this as of right now). I usually just go into store and look for something comfy, reasonably priced, and not stacked really high like a lot of marathon and longer distance training shoes are now days. You could use basketball shoes, but they're not great if you plan on actually running/drills since they're super stiff and made for more agility type movements. The reacts looks good if you like them too haha. Had to google em quickly :P

I got a question, for content making do you know where I should start because I feel like I should start but I’m coming off the wrong foot when it comes to it.

Just start making stuff, learn by doing, and practice makes perfect. I've got a few channels and I just post about what I'm interested in. But the key is just posting, nothing will be perfect so don't think too hard and try to keep it fun.
