Description : the lecture will explain the rationale of the EU’s ambition to become the first climate neutral continent by 2050. It will touch on achievements so far, its place in the current political and global context and give an outlook on the next steps.
Speaker Bio: Kurt Vandenberghe is the Director-General for Climate Action at the European Commission (DG CLIMA). Before this role, he advised President Ursula von der Leyen on the European Green Deal. Vandenberghe has a long history of working in EU climate policy, and his experience includes key positions in DG Research and Innovation. He holds a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and is a prominent figure in driving the EU’s climate and environmental policies.
