Wow you must of got that Jeep for Free the way you cut that thing up. A lift would have solved all your problems.

I has a 73 CJ instead of cutting the body for wheel clearance I made 6" body lifts and it was a lot faster and looked great However nice Job I just bough a1995 YJ it only has a 4 cylinder i don't think I will add larger tires because of the loss of power it will cost on the undersize motor greet video

A great video, however, I tried 35s on my YJ for a short time. Immediately I could tell the larger diameter tire was causing issues when trying to Stop the Jeep rapidly. I decreased the size tire back to a 33 X 12.50 - 15 tire with the solid 10 inch wide tread stance and found a good medium. I did not have to upgrade the brakes on my stock axles.

I love YJs and TJs and usually, I love watching Jeep restorations/rebuilds, but I honestly had a hard time watching this video. I cannot believe you hacked up that Jeep like that; why didn't you just do a body lift or shock lift instead of destroying the body? To each their own I guess......... any value that had as a YJ is completely gone now.
@nickracing63282 жыл бұрын
Yes that was a HUGE value on it before. I did it for myself not to sell, and I like it a lot now. You can have yours bone stock and sell it for 5k in 20 years. I would rather use mine every day and enjoy it.
@twotone852 жыл бұрын
Yeah, i mean this is still reversable i guess...

Personally I would have just put aftermarket fenders but to each their own. Some guys take pride in knowing they fabbed everything themselves.
@SimplyMustGo3 жыл бұрын
Nice job! I have to admit watching you cut up that YJ hurt some, but in the end you made a great little crawler! Did you have to do anything mechanical to it as well?

Nothing but tune up. All fluids, valve cover gasket, brakes tune up. Water pump I guess.
@the861253 жыл бұрын
destroyed the fenders and hood, made it looks hacked, just to fit 35s without buying a lift? I bet the 3.07s complement the 35s great. tube fender kits are pretty cheap and wont slice your wrist when you walk within 6 feet of them. Haters gotta hate. That thing was mint
@nickracing63282 жыл бұрын
As for first it’s got 3.73s, Second, tube fenders heavy as hell. I don’t want my Jeep be like a tank. And third, after lifting it will drive like a crap. No it’s smooth and stable on stock suspension.

It’s actually better then stock. Handle better and more power due to it’s lighter.

wow - this is such horror torture for the restoration jeep crowd. really wish you hadn't sliced it all to pieces. That's gotta be the cleanest YJ interior I've ever seen (resto's not included, obviously) - you were so close to being able to easily do a factory restore and it would have been worth 3x what it is the you did it - and the really sad thing is it's no loner a candidate to do that. *facepalm*

A lift kit would have been waaaaayyyy easier

@joshuaatkins51974 жыл бұрын
@@procars7470 bet that's not including the 35s and rims. Bet. You added more then you took off. Little sheet metal is nothing compared to weight of bigger meats.
@procars74704 жыл бұрын
Bet? Accepted. 1. It’s not just sheet metal. I took off heavy doors, soft top with frames, bumpers, track bars and stabilizer bars, stock steel rims heavier then alloy ones, no spare tire and some other stuff I forgot 2. I know exactly how much lighter it is because I’ve been at the scales before and after. 3430 before 2980 after How about that? 3. But the main thing how it feels, and it feels much faster. I think you loose your bet...

I like to do stuff the other way 6. I’m not cutting 60000 dollars new Jeep, just 2k toy. My bicycle cost more then that.
