For Three years the Rams had the most explosive and high scoring offense the NFL had ever seen. Also had a really underrated defense and were on their way to becoming a dynasty. Then they faced a little known sixth round draft pick in 2001 and now they’re back in LA.

Good choice. One of the best season openers for consumers of offense. Little did we know the Rams defense would be hideous in 2000. Broncos had a nice season, and Shanahan did a good job rebounding after the 1999 injury-plagued/FA/Elway retiring season.

I’m a lifelong Broncos fan, this will my 36th year as a fan. The 2000 season, and the previous disastrous 1999 season, was kind of the beginning of long-term mediocrity for the Broncos. The glory years the mid-to-late 90s were gone, as were the incredibly solid years of the 80s. They of course made the AFC Championship during the ‘05-‘06 season, but they really weren’t “good” again until Peyton came along in 2012.

They definitely improved with him, but he only won 1 playoff game during his time there which was of course the game when they handed Brady his first career playoff L. The 2000 rams offense was ridiculously good. The first team to ever gain 7,000 yards in a season. It's also worth noting that their defense was the worst in the league, giving up 471 points. The talent was there. However, turnovers would kill St. Louis, just like in 2001
@diondupreejr49413 ай бұрын
2001 they dominated 14-2 in NFC they did till they got robbed by the cheaters 👌👌🤦🤷
@Fireyninjadog3 ай бұрын
@diondupreejr4941 2001 they couldn't stop turning the ball over. The patriots aren't cheaters. You just don't know football. The rams shot themselves in the foot, multiple times, in that Super Bowl, and you know it. Tom brady just played better than kurt warner, and the Rams, as usual, committed some costly turnovers
@brendandevine51283 ай бұрын
Their defense gave up more points than any other team actually scored that year.

@@Fireyninjadog I don't know football but they been caught red handed like 4 times cheating TF you mean ion shit about football 🏈 boy I been watching football since I was in Pull-Ups 🤣😂👌👌 but anyways ok but how many points did they scored they can get all the turnovers they want but can you keep up they beat the Patriots the same season on Monday night football 🏈 in new England 24-17 rams wym they cheated on yeah btw remember that bogus ass tuck rule when Charles woodens made Brady fumble then they said he tucked it even a kid notice that was a fumble 👌👌👌💪 wym
@Fireyninjadog3 ай бұрын
@diondupreejr4941 nice story, except it was SUNDAY night football. Proves my point further. Also, the pats did not cheat. Tuck rule was an actual rule in the nfl at the time. This was just the first time it was used in a major game. The ref was just doing his job. The nfl used to have dumb rules, and it's not like it was changed in 2002. It lasted for another decade after the tuck rule game. If Tom had fully completed the pump fake, that would be a fumble, but because of the RULE, not cheating, it was ruled incomplete since the ball was coming forward. The controversy is where you draw the line between incomplete pass and fumble. Also, kurt warner threw 22 picks, which was only 2 less than trent Green for the league lead. The Rams had a -10 turnover differential in 2001. Even in that game vs. New england, warner threw 2 picks, but thankfully won, because of good defense and some offense. The patriots exploited the rams giveaway habit by forcing turnovers in Super Bowl 36. It was a genius game plan, and it worked. Like it or not, the greatest show on turf was done after that game. Marshall faulk never had another brilliant season after that. Kurt warner never played well until he got shipped off to arizona. So, in short, turnovers matter

At a time when myself and many other Broncos fans thought Denver that Brian Griese was going to be the real deal. He had a solid season that year and ended with him the second highest TD to INT ration at the time in NFL history, trailing only Steve DeBerg from 1990. Of course both of those records have been obliterated by the modern era, but 19 to picks to only 4 picks stirred up a lot of buzz back then! Had you asked me in 2000 who would’ve had the better pro career, Brian Griese or the other Michigan QB who had just been drafted by the Patriots, I would’ve said Griese all day. I thought he’d be a natural leader and be the Broncos starting QB for the next 15 years. His next 2 seasons couldn’t have been more of a disaster. Oh, and that other QB from Michigan does hold the current record for highest TD to lowest INT ratio! I have nothing but love and respect for Brady though!

@mariosnum1fan Жыл бұрын
@@heyheyhey33351 yes because they had the better divisional record. They swept the jets which was huge whereas the pats did not. AFC East had all teams in it at one point. Bills led at 5-1 at one point then collapsed at 7-9. Jets got Favre for just that year and were 8-3 leading looking like the best team in the afc before collapsing to 9-7.
