Guys, while the car doesn’t have air suspension (you mentioned about levelling) there is a self levelling unit at the rear a-frame which mates body to chassis, they are obsolete and about £1500 for a reman unit. Will have a floppy back end when loaded up if it’s gone

Lads as per my comment a couple of weeks ago about this vehicle, it will be worth the effort& you will be surprised how lovely it will be to drive You can't beat an old Rangey.....a couple of replacement panels (check rear inner wheel arches) inside rear doors would be my tip as mine went there. Trust me you will love this when it's done. Look forward to watching so crack on lads.l Regards Stuart Manchester

I saw the National Trust sticker, so I'm sure its been well looked after. I am amazed that it moved at all and wasnt seized up, and that the chassis was as good as it was. Time to massively overspend on parts, becuase it will be worth it

You missed most of the spots where Range Rover Classics rust. If the underside is rusty then the body frame under the aluminium panes will be very rusty. If you want more info on what to look for or parts contact Church House Classics who is a RRC specialist. He also has a You Tube channel which you might find interesting.

Great video, better than i was expecting, sure, some bits are hard to come by like decent rear tailgate etc but as said in the video, much of this is labour. i'll wager the v8 is sound, gearbox and transfer box, could go either way

Thanks, the tailgate seems to be decent, we have a replacement door for the off side rear and have both wings and quarters in the back, there is a couple of oil leaks around the gearbox and transfer case but hopefully thats just seals or pipes that can easily be replaced 👍

@@TransformotionVR sounds good👍 is the boge strut still fitted and working? Reliable but they can leak. Fire up the gearbox with a new filter and fingers crossed!! If you've got leaks then you've got pressure at least 🤭

I can't see this "Restoration" project in 30yrs for a Tesla model X. 😅. Personally, i think the future is giving old classics a new lease of life, ( I'm not a great lover of Jagwarrrrr/Land rover) so, im in the "why not" camp. Good luck lads 👍. Ps. You need a H+S meeting ( safety glasses etc 😂😂😂😂)

I spent some time in the JLR facility where they restore these. Seeing panels made by hand to OE drawings and the general workmanship was amazing. As is the cost of the finished cars…..

Best thing us get all the crap out, all the loose bits off and wash it then you will be able to see a start point lol, is it worth it. . . . . . .yes and no, for an enthusiast like Matt yes he love RR, but it will tie you workshop for ages so unless you have space to leave it personally I wouldn't bother

Some places used to paint the gearbox casings when they reconditioned a box so that's why it's painted.

@@TransformotionVR was a thing probably before your time. I also just remembered that British Leyland used to recondition engines and the block was painted silver or gold denoting the level of reconditioning. Ah memories eh! Good luck with that Range Rover btw, they were shit when new!!😝😂😂

It's quite a good idea that but you'd just get idiots painting there engine to say it'd been rebuilt these day ha ha thanks mate the panel gaps on the newer RR's are still shifty these days

@@TransformotionVR oh I know all about Range Rovers from the past and present. I recently had to strip and refit a SVR that was hit in the front and had the whole n/s ripped out. Build quality and fit and finish that would make a stone age man chuckle.

I was thinking "don't touch it with a bargepole", but actually, once you get it back to the unit and get all the parts out and strip off the broken and rusty bits, I'll get there's a solid car underneath to build from. And if Matt's paying - who cares?

Exactly mate! It is a solid car, yes some welds aren't the prettiest but matts expectations are realistic, he knows its never going to be a show pony....and yes he's paying ha ha we've got footage of other builds too we need to get out so its sort of win win

Really what’s it worth as done but not done what’s he going to get making it roadworthy and what’s it going to cost you guys time parts and a lot a lot I say of waisted time looking for bits and bobs a lot much more than what you all think take it easy could turn into a nightmare or he puts you on an hour price be it on the car or looking for stuff ❤
