If the pH of the pond water rises above 9.5, then the fish die off. So to reduce the pH of the water, we can reduce the pH of the water very quickly by applying the bitter water or the water that is used to make chickpeas in the pond. But in this method the results will not last long. So for long lasting results we have to apply bran molasses and yeast to the pond. So that enough animals are created in the pond. Also the monthly maintenance of the pond should be done properly. And if possible, good quality beneficial bacteria or probiotics should be used.
How do I lower the pH in my fish pond?

A safer, longer lasting way to reduce high pH is to add carbon dioxide, which acts as an acid in water. Carbon dioxide levels can be increased by adding organic matter such as cracked corn, soybean meal or cottonseed meal to ponds. As organic matter decays, it releases carbon dioxide.
What happens to fish if the pH is too high?
Fish suffering from alkalosis (illness caused by high pH) will exhibit excessive excitement, swimming quickly and chaotically. Some may try to jump out of the tank or purposefully scratch themselves on rocks in the aquarium. Fins will be spread wide, and the gills may secrete mucus.
