HIGH PIVOT TREK SLASH | First Ride & Impressions

Trek Bikes here in Columbus, Ohio hosted a HUGE demo weekend at our local park, Horns Hill. They brought out 52 of their latest and greatest bikes for anyone to test out. We had our eyes on the new Gen 6 Slash as it was quite a polarizing enduro bike released not too long ago. What an interesting bike it was!

So I'm curious what's the deal these days? Have been watching some of your videos from years ago when you guys were doing the WV Enduro races. Are you guys sponsored now? What does that mean in your case? You get free bikes (from Specialized)? Thanks

Zero financial sponsors right now. Just a few companies help us out with either free product or a good discount which is technically considered "rider support" rather than "sponsored". No free bikes btw but that would be nice lol.

I’ve been on a high pivot for the past couple month and it’s the biggest over-hyped bike fad since mullet, or 27.5+ before them, not worth the hassle of an extra idler. Sure it feels “better” on the chunk, but does it? A well set up coil feels just as good if not better so not worth it IMO

Thanks for the comment! I definitely think they could have their place on downhill bikes, but I agree that a well setup bike can perform just as good regardless of whether or not it's coil or air. Might be a bit overhyped on trail/enduro bikes but I haven't spent enough time on them to really know!

The overall can’t be the deciding factor of a bike. There are so many factors that go into an overall title or even a podium. High pivot and low pivot bikes were in the top 5 all season. You can’t discredit any of them. They obviously work and have their advantages and disadvantages just like a low pivot.
