The more I see video’s like this, the happier I get & I feel inner peace growing. I never realized how many of us are out there. I’d be interested to see the correlation of those of us who left the organization with those of us who were raised by narcissists. The manipulation, control & gaslighting factors. Very inspiring video. Much love to everyone who have courage & strength to walk away. WE are the true blessed ones.

Thank you for sharing your story,, it’s been 20 years of me going back and forward to the meetings without my heart being there I go just because I don’t want to loose my family. I don’t really have friends because my parents became Jehovah witnesses sense I was 7 years old I’m now 45 and for the pass 5 years I completely stop going to the meetings last year 2022 has been the the first year I did not attend the memorial. Hearing your experiences really helps knowing that I’m not alone. It really helps a lot with my depression, I’ve been dealing for the past 20+ years due to the Jehovah’s Witness religion. This hit home for me I was never baptised a Jehovah’s Witness but I was raised by one. I was always encouraged to pursue a life in the truth and studied ect but never fully dived into it even though I was fully convinced it was the truth . I guess my experience would be completely different to yours ,because I was never baptised but it has had a major effect on life in the sense that I would always feel guilty about perusing worldly things ec. I didn’t pursue my dream of music even though I excelled at it out of guilt to Jehovah ,because the things I was talking about even though they was a reflection of my own reality made me feel like I was influencing people to do the wrong thing .I actually stumbled upon one of Harrison videos on KZbin and I though I recognise this person and I clicked and watched and it woke me up .I’ve actually watched Harrison give talks on the stand at the Kingdom Hall I can remember thinking what intelligent young man .he was a great talker and his delivery was impeccable we had a brief chat at the end and went our separate ways and now he’s using the same skills for activism .I’m sorry to hear that your dad is shunning you it goes with the territory my family don’t want anything to do with me either have said I’m an apostate and I’m not even baptised 😂😂

Fifth I woke up between 2014 to 2018 I remember watching your videos between my waking up years , and I,d like to thank you Fifth. In 1975 I was 14 and my favourite albums were Welcome to my Nightmare by Alice Cooper and Captain Fantastic by Elton John. I never went to Bethel, in 1975 the question would have been,,do you listen to shock horror rock and gay music ? In 1978 I was 17 and my favourite album of that year was ,,Stained Class by Judas Priest,, punk music. My favourite bands are Electric Light Orchestra and Yes mainly their 1970,s stuff. I,m now a 62 yo born-again Atheist agnostic apostate evolutionist happily married to my beautiful wife Nicole who's still a pimi jw ,she can't drive so I give her lifts to all the meetings and field service groups, we still have a happy and loving marriage and for that I,m truly grateful, she may or may not ever wake up but loves me to bits ,we avoid the subject of religion like the plague. Thanks again Fifth and Harrison. Justin Porter ex jw ❤️

My brother was disfellowshipped for 20 years and I used to talk to him even though I wasn’t supposed to. After he came back in I started having doubts. My question to him were apostate and so he blocked me one reason is he still has a hope to see my mom who died and he like super christian. Even though I was his friend when he was out he doesn’t do the same as I do but he totally rejects me.

That's very sad 😢 I can sympathize with you because my sister did that to me. She even lived with me at times as a teen when I was 'in' and she was smoking weed etc. Then when I left and she was in she started shunning me! Worse than that I've been out for years and she's been shunning me and then decided she wanted to come out so I took her back with open arms. A year or so later she's decided to go back and even though she said she's not going to shun, I can feel the soft shunning already. The emotional rollercoaster is too much.

That musters up a lot of courage to speak to your disfellowshipped loved one although it was against the elders' rules. I don't know how to interpret disfellowshipping and shunning already. You can exclude me from openly associating with those in the faith but nobody bans me from communicating with my family when I need their help.

Wow, there's so many parallels to our stories. I am an ex-JW and also rapper, producer for quite a few years. It's good to see us telling our stories and supporting one another as we navigate the post cult world. There's so many dynamics at play because of family in and out, real life situations like death, working and personal relationships, decisions about our future, subsisting and surviving. We've overcome a lot just to have a sense of freedom.

Thank you Fifth for “being HONEST!” You are now a better man (and more honest) than most “Christians.” Your dad will eventually be VERY PROUD of you. The truth has set you free and broken the “chains” of “inherited religion!” HONESTY is what finally made me realize that no “loving God” could ever create a hell to be used to TORTURE any creature for ETERNITY! Especially innocent children who simply could not make sense of all the contradictions in “God’s word!” The “cruelty” of disfellowshipping from our church “family” is NOTHING compared to the “hell” described in the fictional Bible as taught by most “Christians.” Happy to hear you worked to push aside the anger and are still using your energy to help others! 👍 👏 Just like you, I had become a “church leader” before I truly realized that the Bible is a work of fiction that has evolved through hundreds of years of editing, translating, and interpreting. To what end? Religion divides families, neighbors, and countries! Use your brains people! Whether a “God” gave us a brain, (or NOT), we should use that brain to THINK, THINK, THINK! And then to help OTHERS! Thank you BOTH for this HONEST and brave discussion! ❤️☮️

On a completely unrelated subject, I wanted to thank you. I have an activist channel in French (as you can see by my handle), and my first videos were more like podcasts where you couldn't see my face and I didn't reveal my name. The reason for this is that my mother is still in, and she has chosen to have a relationship with me in spite of my having disassociated. However, she does not know of my channel, and if she found out, it would not only deeply hurt her, but she would feel forced to cut me off completely. Then I saw your interview with Lloyd Evans, and the ski mask thing, and I realised I had to start showing my face. It's been two years, and IF she knows, she has never breathed a word about it. But I wanted to thank you for that. I do my videos for the same reasons as you, to help others, and it's been tremendously rewarding. When I began, it was to give people in Québec a resource, there are hundreds in English but very few in French. However, I soon saw people from all over the French world, from Montreal to France, Switzerland, Belgium, amd even French Polynesia, subscribing to my channel....even Australia, of all places! I'll never have the same numbers as an English channel, because I'm in a very "niche" market, as it were. But I feel very happy with my 1100 subs or so, and it keeps growing. Like I said, very rewarding! So keep up the fabulous work, and if you ever want to chat or do an interview, you know where to find me...Greetings from La Belle Province!

I was told back then that I wasn't allowed to even talk to another one that was. My daughter married three years ago and wasn't allowed to take photos or go to reception something I had never heard of. I had already told on myself and had been out so I tried to for almost six months to get reinstated so I could be involved in the wedding photos, etc… Couldn't do it, I'd sit in the meetings, here something, shake my head unintentionally knew it was over, couldn't be a hypocrite, then the brother told everyone that you absolutely could not be or get into paradise if you were not a baptized witness. I thought about the new ones in the audience…thats awful Enjoyed your show and the music. Thanks alot

I’m studying music and protest in south Africa. Think the exJw community could learn lessons from the music that helped bring an end to Apartheid. Maybe Fifth could be the Fela Kuti of the exjw movement. Recommend the documentary Amandla! A Revolution in Four part harmony music could be an untapped resource in the war on cult shunning apartheid.
