How do you distinguish between "the buyer got a good deal" and "the high end sports card market has dropped"? If there were 1-2 good deals they might be outliers, but when many sales are 30% or more lower than recent sales, doesn't that imply the wider market for high end cards has dropped?

They got slaughtered on that Brady... 10% of top price. And that Jordan jersey lost nearly half (after buyer prem) in just 9 months. Makes you wonder if these are guys who had a ton of crypto, lost everything and are now firesaling assests. ALSO are we sure these change hands at this price? Feels like there would be a hidden reserve or something. Can't imagine a seller taking that kinda bath unless they are busted.

Hockey is so cheap, that McDavid Shield 1/1 is actually the biggest card in the modern hobby. Only sold for $180,000.

In the United States, if you're making $180,000 per year. You would be wealthier than about 95 percent of the U.S. population. It's a lot of money to spend on cardboard. There's just a few percent of the hobby that can afford these high-end cards.

I m not sure I trust the whole photo match technique, because unless there is some kind of markings, tears, stains, or some significant details that stands out, how would they photo match it exactly to determine if its real(especially jerseys since they are all the same)

One of those MJ jersey autograph cards was pulled at the LCS I used to go to in Springfield Ohio and it actually made the local news. Its funny to think how bug of a deal than we cards were when they first came out. The guy that pulled it decided to sell it through the card shop and they were asking $5000. They had it for a while and eventually sold it. I wish I could remember what serial number it was because I feel like I remember it having a multi colored patch. That card is *definitely* at the top of my "if I had a time machine" card list.
