This anime is pretty popular in JP but get overshadowed by GUP because they're airing in almost the same time. There is interest for it but I guess they choose GUP over this one, Navy ehem..... kinda sore spot being Japanese and because there is a lot of anime with Navy like Kancolle, azure lane and Arpeggio Blue Steel.

That's not too far off. WoWs did do a colab with High School Fleet. The Harakaze and a special addition Admiral Graf Spee were offered in the premium shop. I can't remember if Akeno Misaki and Thea Kreutzer were optional captains to get in the higher bundles, or if they came with the ship regardless. Either way if you got them, both captains had their anime voices used in the game. An event was also running in which you could earn Isoroku, the cat in the anime as a japan ship captain to use on any ship.

@Anson Leung When Evans gave the order "flank speed, full left rudder" he did so without orders, completely alone, staring down an armada of 22 ships. During the run the bridge of his ship was turned into scrap metal, with Evans himself being injured. Despite his injuries he continued conning his ship, and despite having expended his torpedoes - the only equalizers his ship had - he continued lending fire support to allied ships, going so far as to take on an entire flotilla of destroyers (ships equally as armed and armored as his own) alone. He continued fighting until the point where holes were being punched through his ship faster than they could be repaired. Only at this point was the order to abandon ship given, with Evans being the last one off the ship. I don't think Harekaze measures up, she didn't even face a quarter of what Evans was up against.

it's explained that the ships are mostly automated. the crew's deep in the ship, not actually on deck..... of course, these are peacekeeping vessels, not actually ships meant for combat.

well, it was explained in the series that most of the ships systems were replaced by automatics, so they don't need a full crew.

They basically only need very few people. Nearly all of the ships systems are automated (for example fire extinguishers etc.) I believe one of the only not fully automated systems is the boiler. Weapons load automated, electricity doesn't need crew, etc.
