Man , tough. I know I don't agree with you often . I'm from another generation. But young fella you are on point here. This is sad. I am from a small town in VA and few of us make it out . I've seen this scenario first hand and it's not pretty. As for the smoking and drinking. It's not worth the risk young ppl. While you are out doing that stuff you could be grinding. 90 % of the cool cats you run with will be right where you see them at this moment in 20 years. You know who won't be? Those kids you laughed at and called nerd , those who concentrated on the task at hand. There is a reason why cool rhymes with fool. Great video Matt. Continue to be blessed.

“If you wanna ruin your life, it’s your life i don’t care” i don’t drink or smoke or do any drugs either but drinking doesn’t mean your life will be ruined. Smoking doesn’t mean your life will get ruined either. “People who don’t drink or do drugs are more successful than people who do.” That statement is so ignorant. There’s so many people that drink and smoke nowadays? and they’re famous? wiz khalifa? drake? lebron? literally everyone? 😂 Zion probably just wanted to smoke. someone laced it. that’s super sad and unfortunate. someone can poison your food when you eat. some girl can poke holes in the condom and now she’s pregnant. does that mean you should never have sex and if you didn’t do that then you wouldn’t be in that situation? There’s medical cards for a reason? i just didn’t understand that take.

I’m new and I’m here for the young people. This happened.. TO ME. Thankfully, I shook back and have a decent life. Like I said, decent. It really could’ve been better. I have my sanity. I have my family on my side again. I can’t shake the fact that I still lost it all. I had a 43 inch vertical. That alone is enough evidence to show my athleticism. Many women were all over me. When I lost my sanity, that was the first time I felt alone. I’m speaking from experience when I say this. No matter what, you’ll pay a price for drugs and alcohol. Whether relationship wise, financially, body health, or just your personality. You risk something doing drugs. And the risk WILL grow the more you are addicted.

Matt, I understand your point of view, but you’ve made several factually incorrect statements in this video. There’s a reason why retired athletes make statements like “most” of the NBA, NFL, and MLB along with any other sports league openly smokes, or smokes in private depending on league rules. Cannabis is an anti-inflammatory and is a natural painkiller. I won’t refute the fact that many people abuse it, and become addicted, but many people smoke it in their day-to-day lives to deal with anxiety, depression, injuries, terminal illnesses and even eating disorders that they may suffer from. Weed, as opposed to alcohol, is not a depressant. Meaning that you don’t crash out on “temporary” happiness as soon as the high is over. Obviously, you’re entitled to your own opinions and I respect that. But willfully and admittedly speaking from a place of ignorance is not a valid judgement. And to your, “successful” comment: When people in different industries unrelated to athletics like Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates, Mark Cuban, the Late Steve Jobs, Rihanna, etc. who worked hard at their craft to become billionaires, and you realize that a good percentage of successful people have nose candy & adderall addictions, you realize it isn’t as black and white as drugs vs. no drugs. It’s typically WHICH DRUGS will I indulge in vs. which I won’t do; especially in certain industries. Also, I smoke maybe twice a year so I’m not trying to validate some sort of addiction and compensate by comparing myself to some billionaire. Cannabis can be a drug that strips you of any hunger and intuition, but many times that simply isn’t the case. People overindulge on anything and everything, but most things are okay in moderation. Nonetheless, I hope Zion really gets the help he needs. It’s a shame that it might be the end for him in terms of the NBA, since a healthy return doesn’t guarantee that NBA teams won’t judge him on his decision-making. NBA teams invest money into players as assets, so when an asset can veer off course like that in the blink of an eye, it can understandably be disconcerting. Wishing him the best.

Alright perspective: I graduated college without debt while being addicted to weed and Xanax (weed is addictive I don’t give a fuck I’ve used it for years and know what I’m talking about). I also had a drinking problem but never had withdrawals so I can’t say I was a full blown alcoholic, but I drank like one. I quit that all and have been hitting the gym and feel like my old self again. I missed my old self. Did those substances stop me from accomplishing goals and starting a career I can retire in? No. Did they help me? Not at all. All they did was send me gradually into a depression with anxiety and paranoia I never had before touching them. I wish I knew never to touch them. I want this young man to get completely clean and get reevaluated. What happened to him so far is hard to see. He deserves to be off it all and back to his old self.

I’ll put it this way there’s a right and wrong way to use marijuana. You have to control it, don’t let it control you. I believe it is useful for stress and anxiety but if it comes to the point it just takes over your life to the point you don’t make any progression, then that’s where the line needs to be drawn. If you are in a bad spot in your life and you smoke weed on a regular basis, it may soothe your pain but it will give you the illusion that everything is alright. Weed just makes you feel comfortable in a bad situation. You just smoke weed and you feel everything is alright when in reality you’re still stuck in the same hole you were 5 years ago.

I started smoking at 17 ( don't judge me ) but I was use to smoking however that night I got so high I was scared. I remember walking around with them then walking back to my apt in the rain bcuz my body wouldn't run. I was hearing voices and sweating even though I was inside with the AC and fans on. What's even crazier is that I had work the next morning and was still high when I woke up. The effect lasted almost 2 days and to this day I don't know what they did to me. I'm good now and don't have any issues from it but I really think it's bcuz I was already use to smoking so my body could handle it. Long story short even the people closest to you can't be trusted sometimes.

Damn, sad story to hear 😢😢. Zion really had a chance of making the league one day, he was that good. This is why you gotta stay away from any drugs and/or alcohol, and keep yourself busy and keep the right people around you so you can succeed. The story of Len Bias is tragic. Dude was days away from getting drafted. Snorted pure cocaine and it killed him. At least Zion is still alive and has a second chance to make something of himself, some people don't get that opportunity after making a mistake. My dad told me, "some mistakes are only made once." That's why I will try to keep my kids as busy as possible with extra curricular activities and other endeavors. Idle hands do the devil's work. And most people that get hooked on drugs and/or become alcoholics didn't get hooked because they're "bad", most likely they were bored, hanging out with losers, the losers introduced them to weed and alcohol and that's how they got hooked

This is what most likely happened, he probably smokes weed and one time the weed he smoked had some kind of psychedelic in it like acid, pcp, dust, etc which permanently effected his brain. So what laced means is that there was something in your weed that wasn’t supposed to be in there, which means that he was laced, and all it took was one time for him to smoke laced weed for him to act like that cuz now it is like he is not sober anymore and he is always high which is why he posted so many weird things on different occasions because he is permanently like that.
