Can't agree more. In this patriarchal society of ours a man, and if he happens to be an artist as well, is given a free hand to indulge in depravity, perversion, and licentiousness. And with a warped sense of upholding male superiority, it is often celebrated. In late mustafa zaidi case also shehnaz gul is always being condemned as femme fatale and bad woman but the poet's own character has rarely been questioned. Your podcast bought back my memories of this famous Shahnaz Gul and Mustufa Zaide’s Murdere case --it was in paper for weeks ! I still remember the beautiful pictures of Shahnaz Gul in Jung news paper who was seen as stunning model of that era ! I was young in college and this news was the talk of the town for weeks ! V sad ending of M Zaidi the famous poet who died tragically. You should have shown the pictures of Shanaz and M zaidi in your podcast !

Gentlemen it was a good effort however please get a few facts straight for the sake of providing correct information to the general public: 1- She was not Kashmiri, in fact she was from an Afghan Durrani family, the 7th direct descendent of Ahmed Shah Abdali the Emperor of Afghanistan. 2- She did not have any brothers in fact she had 4 more sisters (in all 5 sisters in total). 3- She did not murder Mr. Mustafa Zaidi it as a suicide. I know all the above facts because i m her nephew. Regards

Shahnaz Gul was a femme fatale , who was used to entangle Mustafa Zaidi . He did have an affair with her , but the fact remains that he was devoted to his family . He was in Karachi to seek permission from the Martial Law Authority to leave Pakistan to be able to go to Germany to join his family . He was most definitely murdered but , unfortunately , it was camouflaged as suicide . This entire prodcast is based on the narrators over-active imagination . All the above incorrect narrative would have been laughable , had it not been so sad . It is sadly and pathetically untrue !

Shehnaz and Mustafa used to go to parties in Gujranwala. Gujranwala is still not a developed city. How backward was this city in the 1960's.Shehnaz was not interested as Mustafa Zaidi had lost his job and was surviving on his friend's favors.
