@@kenaidog6974 so I get quite a few comments of this nature. Problem is that we’ve NEVER had a backlash doing a speed set….so we have that going for us. I have blown up the drum motor which is significantly more of a pain than a backlash…

@@notathing649 it’s not too bad on the gear actually. Everyone says “wait till you get a backlash doing sets like that” no backlashes in four seasons of doing this…but to your point, salmon love to stay in the shallow water and out of the current (at least here they do)…setting in plane let’s us get the net where the most salmon are and get the boat back to “deeper” water. The problem arises when there isn’t actually any water left. Like right now, as I write this, I’m parked in the dirt because I wasn’t paying close enough attention! 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
