High speed trains are a much more civilized, scenic, comfortable way to travel, than planes. Minimal boarding times, and stopping in the middle of a city, instead of the outskirts, can make it FASTER, depending on where you´re going to. As a Spaniard, I caught my very first AVE in the 90s, and never used a national flight ever since. Best.

Well the plane is only for people who are really in a hurry, for example business people. But for anyone travelling, the train is an essential part of the trip. And apart from anything else - theres the social angle with people getting on and off at every stop who are a mine of information about their local areas that you're travelling through.
@Garvm2 жыл бұрын
The point here is that train is faster than plane, if you take into account that airport is not in the center of the city, and you can board the train just arriving 2 minutes before the departure. The only market for plane between València and either Madrid or Barcelona is the secondary flights for intercontinental travels

For nomal users and for railfans this is the Euromed or Euromediterranian Corridor, Number One for the number of passengers every year in RENFE long distance lines. But technically not exactly a high speed line, one main reason is because is a transversal line who connects directly Catalonia and Valencian Country, and both with the rest of Europe. It´s not a radial line from centralist Madrid. The only true high speed lines in Spain are strictly radials, from the capital to "the periphery". For Madrid "the periphery" is all the rest of the country included Barcelona, València or Bilbao. In fact, the lack of funds or the eternal delays in works in this line (the horrible look of the zone around Sants Central Station here in Barcelona in our days is a good example), plus the chaos in Rodalies or Commuter services both in Barcelona and in València until recent times and for the same reason (no renovation or new lines in Rodalies, a lot of funds for Madrid-Cercanias or Commuter network), were two of the many reasons for the boom of independentism in past years here in Catalonia. And also were two of the reasons for the end of right governments in València city council and Valencian autonomous governmennt, and the arrival of actual lefty and progresist coalition.
